Andrea Brown Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Nov. 22, 2008.
BROWN, Andrea Patricia Adams, 59, a longtime resident of Richmond, Va., passed on October 13, 2008, at her son's home in Frisco, Texas. Andrea, perhaps better known to some as Andy or Sissy, was born to Frederick Lucias Adams and wife, Bessie Lee Thomas, on April 5, 1949, in Johnson City, N.Y. An alumna of Old Dominion University, Andy has spent the past several decades working in the medical-legal field. The last 15 years were spent working with her friend and employer, Dr. Nathan Zasler, at Concussion Care Center of VA. As many know, Andy had an unwittingly keen sense of humor, finding laughter even in her final days. She is survived by two sons, Christopher Lee Brown and Thomas Wayne Brown and wife, Kelly; twin brother, Steven Adams and wife, Beverly; several nieces and nephews, as well as many, many eternal friends. Andrea's final wishes were to forgo formal services but simply to reunite with her beloved, lifelong friend, Crystal Marie, a beautiful white haired Samoyed, at the Rainbow Bridge. Her memory will be cherished by all she knew and the many lives she touched. She will be missed. A memorial fund has been established in Andrea's name under the hospice service, Visiting Nurses Association. Donations can be made directly by visiting www.vnatexas.org/donate.htm or by calling (214) 689-0000. A life celebration event was held at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Va., on Sunday, October 26, with close friends and family in attendance. It embraced the humor and embodiment of Andy's spirited life. She would have loved it.
