Lois Fields Obituary

FIELDS, Lois Ruth Jinkins, age 93, passed away November 30, 2008 at Westminster Canterbury, Richmond. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Herman R. Fields and by her parents, William Y. and Mabel M. Jinkins. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara F. Lucord and son-in-law, L.R. Lucord Jr.; and by her son, Thomas R. Fields and daughter-in-law, Lila C. Fields. She is also survived by her five loving grandchildren, Diane Fields Capozzalo and her husband, Chris, Justin Fields, Bruce Lucord, Mark Lucord and Jennifer L. Boykin and her husband, Bruce. She is also survived and dearly loved by her six great-grandchildren, Sarah Lucord, Kara Lynne Lucord, Mitchell Lucord, with whom she shares a birthday, Jonathan Boykin, Ben Boykin and Charlie Boykin. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she adored. Lois grew up in Ashland, Va. and graduated from Farmville State Teachers' College, now Longwood University, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. She worked for many years as a librarian for the Virginia State Library in Richmond. Lois was also actively involved in the life of Battery Park Christian Church for 50 years. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 3 at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. A graveside service at 11 a.m., Thursday, in Hollywood Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Westminster Canterbury, 1600 Westbrook Ave. at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 4 with a reception for everyone on the Roof Terrace immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fellowship Fund of Westminster Canterbury Foundation, 1600 Westbrook Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227 or to the Battery Park Christian Church Memorial Fund, 4201 Brook Rd., Richmond, Va. 23227.

Dear Barbara, Tom, and family,
When I remember Aunt Lois, I recall her wit, her charm, her gracious sense of hospitaity, her devotion to God and her family and her sense of style. She was a classy woman with great intelligence and so organized! I will miss her smiles and humor. May God bless and keep you close during your time of grief.
