Essie Jane Nugent Hawkins

HAWKINS, Essie Jane Nugent, 78, of Hopewell, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell. She was a native of Ettrick, Virginia, and the daughter of the late Edward Eugene and Katie Traylor Nugent. Four brothers, Eddie, Bud, Lloyd and Bob Nugent; and a sister, Helen Porter, preceded Mrs. Hawkins in death. She was a member of Ettrick Baptist Church and Ettrick United Methodist Church. She was previously employed by C&P Telephone Company and Southern Hardware. She is survived by a son, Tom Hawkins of Modesto, California; a sister, Jeanette Griffin of Lynchburg; a brother-in-law, Pat Porter of Colonial Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Pastor Edward Council officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from one hour prior to the funeral service.
