Rose M. Hawkins

Rose Hawkins (née LoPresti), 97 of Algonquin, previously of Hoffman Estates, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family.
Born in Chicago, IL, as the daughter of Sicilian immigrants, Rose grew up in Lincoln Park alongside her three sisters, one brother, and other family members in a tight knit neighborhood. After the loss of her parents at a young age, Rose lived with her sister, Theresa and family for several years to follow. Family was everything for Rose, having routine card nights with her sisters and brothers-in-law and visiting each other on Sundays. Rose loved to dote on her nieces/nephews and spend time with friends, until she met Glen and started her own family, having three children and eventually eleven grandchildren. Raising Lisa, Vicki, and Glenn kept Rose busy driving from activity to activity. Not a visit with the grandkids would go by where Rose wouldn't try to slip them a few dollars. Rose enjoyed gardening, all-night bingo games, and her favorite game shows – and if anyone kept a cleaner house while her kids were growing up, you'd never have met them. Even as her dementia progressed, some things with Rose never changed. Rose never failed to point out beautiful flowers or landscaping, comment on her grandson's "beautiful" red hair, stick her tongue out at her sassy family members, or have a rosary in her hand to say a prayer.
Rose is survived by her children, Lisa Gallagher (Joe), Victoria Benigni (Steve), and Glenn Hawkins (Natalie). She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Joey, Zac, Nicholas, Samantha, Sarah, Emily, Matthew, Jacob, Tyler, Hannah, and Michael, in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Hawkins, parents Vito and Grace LoPresti, sisters Annie Arrigone (Bob), Laura Camilere (Tom), Theresa Schroeder (Bob), brother Sam LoPresti (Lena), and nephew Dominic DeMartino.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 9-10 AM at Holy Archangels Parish (St. Hubert's Catholic Church) in Hoffman Estates, followed by mass at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
