SMITH, Arthur, of Connecticut, departed this life Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Rock Hill Heath Care Rehab Center in Rock Hill, Connecticut. He was born May 2, 1939 in Halifax County, N.C. and lived a short time in Richmond, Va. before moving to Hartford, Conn., where he resided until his death. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Roosevelt, Hosea, John T., James and Ernest; three sisters, Viola, Virginia and Delma. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Randy Smith (Lori) of Neshanic Station, N.J. and Siretta Smith of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, Randy, Chelsea, Ryan, Jasmine and Lenyonna; one brother, Wilson Smith of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Mary Lee Smith and Lillie Mae Smith, both of Tarboro, N.C. and devoted, Mary Sample (Benjamin) of Richmond, Va.; one brother-in-law, Benjamin Davis of Tarboro, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Martha Smith of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a devoted niece, Sheila Smith of Richmond, Va.; and a host of other nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St.
