Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord
May God comfort you during this time. God Bless.

Dear Judy,
I became acquainted again with Tommy when he was at St. Mary's and I was volunteering there. Fate just kind of brought us together. We had lots of fun last spring talking about the upcoming reunion. Who would know...he would be able to go and I would not. I saw him again these past 2 Fridays, and had the wonderful pleasure of being able to chat once again. I was privileged to feed him his breakfast, and during that time.....we once again reminised about our Victoria days. I wish you and your family only the best Judy, and would certainly like to meet you one day. Take care,
Brenda Wrenn Skinner

Judy, M.C. and Jimmy,
We hope you know how much we loved Tom and that we consider you all family. We're sure you will remember that it was our son J.D. that gave Tom his name--" Tommy Salami" and that our families have shared many wonderful times together over the last 28 years. Tom was a very special man and you all will be in our hearts always. All our love and prayers are with you.

MC and Mrs. Gaulding-
I'm so sorry to hear about Tom. He was such a sweet guy and of course a great softball coach. Many of my favorite childhood memories involve our little league games with Tom coaching us. My thoughts are with you guys and the rest of your family. Take care.

I was saddened to read of Tom's passing. Tom and I worked together at The Equitable. He was so very proud of his family. We had a good many laughs sharing our memories of both growing up on tobacco farms in Lunenburg County and attending rival high schools. My sympathy to his family.

My deepest sympathy to everyone in the family. It was such a pleasure to work for a great District Manager at Equitable. We shared many stories about being raised in small towns, "Victoria" and "Keysville". He will be deeply missed by all.

Judy,
I am so sorry to hear about Tom. He was a good friend and colleague at State Mutual. I enjoyed playing golf with him and will never forget him talking about "chicken grips" after eating fried chicken at a golf tournament. I will miss his humor and wisdom.

Mary Catherine and Mrs Gaulding,
I am so sorry to hear about Mr Gaulding’s passing. I think you both know that I am thinking of you both and praying for your family. I wanted to share one of MY memories of Mr Gaulding and that was just how WONDERFUL a father he was to MC. I remember when we went to Richmond to visit one time and Mr Gaulding washed MC’s ENTIRE car (top to bottom) – just so she’d have a nice, clean car to drive back to Knoxville. I also remember when we all moved into the house our senior year there at UT and all the work he (and you too Mrs Gaulding of course…you painted MC’s ENTIRE bedroom!) did helping us to get the house ready to live in. It’s clear how much he truly cared about Mary Catherine and was a such a great dad! I know he will be missed! Love, Adrian and PJ Bergkvist

Judy, Jimmy & Mary Catherine,
The court will never be the same, but I know that Tom is in great company! Tommy salami was a good man and always willing to help and Jolene and I thought a lot about him and he'll always be Maggie Clay's first "boyfriend". I am very sorry.

His smile would light up the room...

Please allow me a few minutes to share with you a little bit about the boy we knew as “Tommy” back in Victoria, Virginia. He was smart, but humble and knew no strangers. His smile would light up the room, make the girls swoon, and the guys jealous.
I met him in the first grade. Even then he was top of the class. It’s funny what we remember, and I remember that he always smelled nice… so I asked him, “Tommy, why do you always smell so nice every day”? Without hesitation he replied, “My mama makes me take a bath every night with Lifebouy soap.”
In the second grade Tommy was the groom in a “Tom Thumb” wedding. I was the preacher, and he “married” my second grade sweetheart, Betty Yeatts. In spite of that we remained friends.
Both Junior and Senior years Tom was our class president. As a Senior in 1958 he earned Who’s Who recognition for BEST PERSONALITY, FRIENDLIEST, and MOST POPULAR.
Fifty years later, April 2008, our class celebrated its Golden Anniversary at a restaurant in Victoria. And, Brenda (Wrenn) Skinner and God got together and allowed Tom to attend. Tom knew then his time was short, but he still had enough time for us. It was a special moment for all of us, seeing him, listening to him, sharing with him. We love you “Tommy” and we miss you and are looking forward to the next time we will see you.
Respectfully,
John Underwood – on behalf of “The Class of ‘58”

Mary Catherine and Judy,
I am so sad to hear about Tom. I cannot say anything to make it hurt worse, but please know that you both are in my thoughts and prayers. I had such a good time with the three of you when I came to VA or when we gathered in TN. Those will be memories that I will never forget. Love to you both.

Judy, I met you last spring at the high school class reunion. I am so glad I got to see Tommy then. We went through 12 years of school together and he, clearly, remained the same wonderful Tommy we had all known and loved.
You and your family are most certainly in my thoughts and prayers.

Judy and Mary Catherine,
You remain in our prayers and please know how much we love you. Tom was a very special person who we considered part of our family. We are truly blessed that he was a part of our lives. We know Tom is with our parents and our angel Mary Elizabeth no doubt laughing and telling stories about all of us. We take comfort in knowing we will all be together again never having to say goodbye.
Love,
Herb, JoAnn and Emily
