MAJOR, A. U. "Dumplin", age 87, of Saluda died Tuesday, January 20, 2009. He retired from the trucking business in the mid-1990s. He was a member of Saluda Baptist Church and a WWII Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Taylor Major; two daughters, Brenda M. Hogge and her husband, Jimmy, of Mechanicsville, Theresa M. Anderson and her husband, Brad, of Locust Hill; a son, Gene Major of Ashland; five grandchildren, Chris Anderson (Kelly), Amy Hogge, Amanda Morgan, Major Williams (J.D.) and Elizabeth Major; two great-grandsons, Mitchell Morgan and Josh Anderson. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 790, Urbanna, Va. 23175. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
