Irene Chenault Obituary

CHENAULT, Irene Woody, age 101, of Newtown, Va., formerly of Richmond, died January 25, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Cook Chenault and Lessie Lumpkin Chenault; three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by one sister, Rebecca Chenault Tyrrel of Newtown; four nephews, three nieces, and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. Miss Chenault was retired from P. Lorilland Tobacco Company. She was a member of Immanual Baptist Church in Richmond and a longtime volunteer at the Braille Circulating Library. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, at B.W. White Funeral Home, Aylett, Va., where services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, with interment to follow at Upper King and Queen Baptist Church Cemetery.

When I met Irene a couple of years ago, she immediately welcomed me into her heart as family. She was a kind and gentle soul, dignified and strong in her values and love of life. I will miss her.
