Dear W. D.,
The memory of your dear mother remains so wonderfully vivid to me during our years as teenagers when she and your dad so graciously gave me rides to our DeMolay events. She was the epitome of a dignified and gentle lady. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May the pain of this time be replaced by the solace of the loving memories you will all cherish of such a beautiful person.

W.D. and family:
I have lost my "BESTED" friend, my mentor, my Richmond Mom, and the Southern Lady we all aspire to be.
Nellie (Belle") was an inspiration to me from the very first moment we met...she was always willing to talk and advise if asked. She was a delight to talk with. We had so many beautiful talks about life and I so enjoyed hearing stories about her life and family. We shared so much as only dear friends do. I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit her in Bluefield and the chance to talk with her, one last time, a few days before God took her home.
Nellie gave much to so many and taught so many the beauty of life and all it as to offer dispite the losses we have to endure when we lose a loved one. She was my strength through a great loss in my life...she was always there to talk and listen when I hurt the most.
I will always treasure our wonderful friendship and the many beautiful times we shared.
Nellie, "Belle" I will miss you, my "Bestest" friend. You had a beautiful life and shared that beauty with us all. I am so fortunate and so priviledged to call you MY friend.
My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you, Nellie's loving family.
May God hold each of you in the palm of his hand during this difficult time.
Love,

Nana,
You are missed and loved more than I could ever describe. I honestly can say that there has never been a moment in my 32 years that you have not shown me your incredible pressence, and unconditional love. You have been there for me my entire life and I was blessed for 32 years. You were more than a grandson could ask for and a shining example to all of my daughters of what a woman can and should grow up to be. I am thankful that they did get to know you and have their lives enriched as mine was. You will always be remembered by me as my Nana, a Lady, an inspiration, an example, and a standard to which we could all only hope to aspire to. I miss you. I would trade the world for an El Matador right now. Thank you for being you, and sharing that with me. Tell my Granddad We love him and miss him too.
Love Always, from a Thankful Grandson

Nana, you will be missed and your bright contagious smile is what sticks in our heads when your name is heard or said. You left nothing but good memories and wonderful advice, and that advice is lived by everyday by others including me. We will miss you so much but we all know you are holding the hand of the William David with one hand and Jesus in the other, Nana you were the strongest woman I have ever known and you were looked up to whether you saw it or not. . .we love you Nana and some day we will see your wonderful smile again.
Luv, Kathy Lynn
