Jack, Ej, Eschol,
How ever you knew him was a talented, loving, intellengent mentor, but also my best friend! "Jack," as I knew him, loved being out doors were the sunshine hit his face and the wind blew across the grass. I was blessed with 7 years with Jack! One warm day at Triple J Stables, Jack saw me riding this broke down old mule, and i was just walking and walking! Little did I know he had already talked to my mom about coming over and exercising his horses, he came to the fence and asked me if I would like to come ride them, of course me being a 12 year old kid I was like, "Yeah, That would be so much FUN!" Well, Lets just make this story short, I asked him to train his horses to barrel race, guess what he said yes! Haha! From that day forward Jack and I were partners in crime! I made Fancy and Patty in to made Barrel Horses! We decided that we need to expand our horizons, so we purchased Stretch Pooh from Duckie Keller, I remember the first time I borke a 16.0 with that horse he came about 15 feet off the ground and hollered, "WooPEE!! Thats my girl!" Jack loved wakeing up on Saturday mornings at dawn to get in the truck to go to a reodeo! Or spending the night in our trailer, Our home away from home he called it! And my goodness, picking on every little thing about mom's driving but, I loved it, he kept us safe! The little talks before every run, he would come up to the horse and I am pat me on the leg and say, "Kelsey, you have just got to calm down, push the horse for all hes got, dont knock any barrels, have fun, but, calm down!" You know I always thought man thats alot to take in right before I go in to run! But, it always made me perform better. I miss saying, "I love you Jack, Call me if you need me!" every night before I went home at 8 O-clock! To be honest I started as a real troubled teen, black nails, black hair, black clothes, did not even know where I evem belonged, and Jack turned me into the viberent young lady I am today! If Jack impacted anyone in his life it was me! He changed my life! Jack and my horses, the barn, and barrel racing was my life! 7 Years of happiness and Joy is what I had to share with him, I thank God for it everyday. I miss you Jack! Life has been impossible without you, im empty amd there is a void I can not fill! I love you Jack! As I said a few weeks ago im not going to stop! Our dreams are still here! Im going to win, and im going to do it in every arena with you in my heart!

Jack loved his horses, and wanted them to be the best that they could be. Consequently one day he invited a young girl to come and to ride them, and train them to be used in barrel racing competition. The horses succeeded, and far surpassed his expectations for them, and his love of the sport grew, as did his love for the rider that he "adopted" as one of his own. To the very end he was proud of his rider and the horses and their accomplishments. He told everyone he came in contact with about the horses and his rider. His pride in them became a way of life and he looked forward to the before dawn departures for a show. Jack was foremostly concerned with the safety of us as well as the horses. We traveled all over Virginia to shows and he loved every minute of it. "Whoopee" was the cheer of choice when they made an extra special run-mind you he was a good foot off the ground when he said it! He said that he slept better in the trailer than he ever did at home, and the eggs that we "whooped-up" in the trailer were the best he had ever eaten anywhere. He remarked in Lexington while sitting by the trailer under the awning, that "life didn't get any better than this." The barrel racing community enjoyed Jack, and he enjoyed them. His stories and jokes will never be forgotten, and Jack's dreams for his rider and a very special three year old Peewee rider will be realized. Turn 'N' Point Stables and the dreams that Jack had for it will be seen thru to fruition. Dreams, after all never die. Jack loved to see them ride-and I am sure that he will watch over them from above as they strive to make his dreams come true. We were just the adopted family, but once Jack adopted us, we all knew that the love was real. You will always be in our hearts, and at the entrance to the arena no matter where we run. We truly love you and cherish every memory that we have-no one can take those away from us. As Rylan said daily-"Jack's my buddy. I love him." For all the laughs and love, we-and JJ, Sandy, Fancy (who he loved to see "stepping it off"), Truck, Elvis, Buddy, Patrick, Stretch, and Romeo know that you are held in God's eternal light and love. We will miss you, yet we know that you will always be with us.

Mr. Batts was a wonderful neighbor and friend. He always had a funny joke or story to tell me. We will truly miss you, my friend.
