Sylvester Pergiovanni Obituary

Sylvester Pergiovanni 1913 - 2008 CHESHIRE Sylvester Michael 'Pinky' Pergiovanni, 95, of 110 Richardson St., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided since February 2008. Born in Chester, Mass., Aug. 25, 1913, son of Michael and Mary Dalesandro Pergiovanni, he was educated in Chester Schools. While in Chester, he served as a constable. He moved to Cheshire in 1955. A world War II veteran, he served in the Army from Jan. 28, 1943, until Feb. 20, 1943. Mr. Pergiovanni was a truck driver. He was employed by B. Perini & Sons of Framingham where he worked for 10 years. He then worked for Patricca Construction Company for 28 years, from where he retired in 1979. He had also worked for General Electric Company many years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He was a member of the Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge 564 and a member of the Cheshire and Savoy Senior Centers. He was a Red Sox fan, and he enjoyed gardening and dancing. Mr. Pergiovanni leaves his wife, the former Mary Lancia, whom he married Oct. 21, 1944. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Michael A. Pergiovanni of Randolph, Mass., a daughter, Regina A. Cardonnel of Cheshire, and two grandchildren, Kelly and Nicholas Cardonnel, both of Cheshire. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: A liturgy of Christian Burial will be held today, Oct. 11, at 9 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church celebrated by the Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Pergiovanni may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or to Cheshire Fire Department, both in care of the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.
