Suzanne Straley Obituary

STRALEY, Suzanne (Spangenberg) Of Norwell, formerly of Hull, entered into rest Monday, October 6th, 2008. Age 68. She passed away peacefully with friends and family at her side. Sue was an avid reader and student of life. She loved the ocean, flowers, photography and painting and had recently opened an art studio in her home with one of her lifelong friends, Diana Coyle, where they beautifully captured everything they loved for all to share. She loved to travel and recently fulfilled lifelong dreams to visit France and Ireland, which she said were so beautiful. Sue especially loved holidays, sitting around with the entire family, telling stories and playing cards. She was a member of the Church Council and a Deacon at the United Church of Christ in Norwell. Sue spread enough love in her sixty-eight years to last a lifetime. Sue was the daughter of the late Leonard and Dorothy Spangenberg of Waban, Mass. Beloved wife of Richard C. Straley, devoted mother of Richard G. Straley, Jennifer S. Sherman, and Kevin M. Straley. Adored grandmother of Jake, Alexei, Owen, and Ryan. Sister of Robert Spangenberg. Mother in law to Beth Straley, Stu Sherman, and Karen Straley. She was born on January 24, 1940. She graduated from Newton High School in 1958 and Lasell Jr College in 1960. Sue and Dick Straley were high school sweethearts and married in 1961. Sue and her husband Richard were the proud owners of Cards and Shards gift shop in Cohasset center for twenty-six years. She will be deeply missed, but remembered forever. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2 pm at the United Church of Christ Church, 460 Main St., Norwell. Visiting hours Saturday 4-8 pm at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony's Church), COHASSET. Interment Private. My heart felt condolences to Sue's family and friends. We knew each other in our early years at the Malden Nazarene Church. My memory's of her are pleasant, especially her quiet, friendly nature. May the Lord give you His peace and comfort in the days ahead.
