I'm Sorry that I only heard the news now. I also knew James from his Internet presence on e60.net. He was always the 'voice of reason' and was passionate about his car, his guns, but most importantly his family and 'what is most important'. Some of his thoughts (via postings, but not car-related) will remain with me for as long as I'm on this earth.
For those of you who personally knew James, you were the lucky ones! He was a Special Person!!

I was very, very, sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I'd known him when he was an NRA director, and stayed in touch thereafter. He was a good and great man, and did much to encourage me when my projects seemed to be faltering. I am honored to count him among my friends.

Sounds like our community has lost a true gentleman. I am sorry to say that I never had the opportunity to meet/chat with him. I would have liked to thank him for his service to his country in WWII. My sincerest condolences to his family. My prayers are with you.
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who biddest the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Jim and I were internet buddies for about 10 years. Our mutual interest in shooting and the Texas State Rifle Association made for interesting "talks" on the 'net. I'll miss his humor and wisdom and willingness to help any that asked.

In addition to being a great shooter and instructor, what a wonderful all-around man Jim was!

I extend my deepest sympathy to the Nicholson family on their loss. I never met Jim but did converse by e-mail with him a few times. The State of Texas is also showing a loss with Jim's passing. We could not have reached the state of freedom we are currently at without his help.

Although I do not know JDN personally I know him through a onlne car forum. Being one of the early members of the forum it was a small group and everyone pretty much got to know one another so I felt like I personally know him. It is sad to hear the news. You will be missed.

Jim was someone I got to know only through the internet because of our common interest and love for BMW automobiles. We became acquainted over three years ago as we both purchased similar cars but communicated continuously throughout that time.
He was a great friend and was always seemed so energetic about everything he wrote about -- whether it be his love for his family, his car, or his guns.
I will truly miss his visits and writings on the BMW related internet forums and I will truly miss the comraderie we shared these past few year.
God bless you JDN!

I am sick at heart over news of Jim's passing. He was a great champion of firearms owners who, as an NRA Director fought the good fight against the forces of darkness both within and without the NRA. He was also a valued Member in the mid-'90s of our on-line Prodigy Shooting Sports Bulletin Board, and a warm and personal friend who offered me the hospitality of his and Barbara's home during a long ago trip to Texas. Another friend and I were proud to cast our "76th Vote" for him in Pittsburgh three years ago, the last time we had a chance to visit.

Jimmy was my oldest and best friend. We were the thickest of friends in High School and he was always in my fondest memories of growing up in Havana. Our deepest sympathies to the family and we will miss him greatly. Had not seen much of him in years, but he was still No 1 with me.
