He was my teacher for 3 years. I remember the morning I found out the news. A friend texted me but I didn't believe her, I ended getting to school late and as I was getting a late pass from the office I saw a girl from my class sobbing surrounded by administration. I was about enter the classroom and I saw through the window inside that Mr. Diemer wasn't there and more administration were in the classroom. Before I could even enter the bell rang. I started walking to my next class and I felt my heart sink but I still didn't want to believe it. I met up with a friend on the way to class and she asked if i heard the news. It was then I realized what had actually happened. I realized that what happened was real. It hit me fully at that point. I remember walking passed a teacher I had on my way to my next class and she must have noticed something was up because she asked me what was wrong. I mentioned Mr. Diemer and she comforted me but I started crying a lot at this point. I had one speak with the school therapist for awhile because it was the first time I had experienced someone I knew in my life die. The week after they moved our class to the library for rest of the year it was quiet and sad. It felt like a big piece of the class was missing. I used to draw him pictures and he would hang them on his wall near his desk. He was always so helpful and just wanted the best for his students. I think of him almost everyday. he will never be forgotten. rip

Mike, long remembered, will be sorely missed. He was a talented artist, a truly good man, a great father and exuded a quiet strength. I worked with him in the Manatee Bureau of the Herald-Tribune for years, and I was so surprised and saddened to hear he had passed. My sincerest condolences to Francine, Jeffrey, Paige and the whole family.

I worked with Mike for the last 3 years at Buffalo Creek. We talked and joked about the teaching life, and our families as well. Can't believe he's gone and he's going to be missed.

Mike Diemer worked in the Photo Department of The Post in the late 70s. Some of us old-timers still talk about some of his escapades when we get together. I've often wondered where he ended up.
He certainly left us before his time. My condolences to the family.
