To Jane, Liz, and Blake - I have such wonderful memories of Bob as a professional but more importantly, as a tremendous human being. I extend my sincerest sympathy to you at this time and hope that your faith will carry you and comfort you at this time of great loss. I am sure Bob is looking down from a much better place....he may even have that magic etch-a-sketch with him.....we had so many laughs over the years, and I still have the etch-a-sketch...and pay it forward often. God Bless You.

We want to send our condolences Jane, to you and your family and to let you know just how encouraging and positve Bob was from the first time we met, at our first MMRF function to when we last saw him at the race in October.

He has been great support to all of us over the years and we are so grateful for having known him. He has made our journey with myeloma a bit lighter.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Debaun family, my deepest sympathy to you and may the fond memories will carry you through this time of grief.

Bob was an incredible leader and mentor, I was blessed to have worked with Bob at Allegiance/MPS but not only the work experience but to have him touch my life as a friend; he was one in a million. He touched so many people in so many ways. From his $20 questions at meetings to his little jingles he left at the end of many voice messages. He always kept the HR family together even after many of us had left to Allegiance for other jobs. He had a kind heart and he always treated others no matter what you job title was as human being.

I will truly miss Bob; however his laughter, kind words, and his memories will live on in many of us that have either worked with Bob or had the pleasure of Bob touching our lives.

January 4, 2011

Working with Bob was a joy. He was a unique and wonderful person who brought positive enthusiasm and humor to even the most challenging circumstances. He lives on in all the lives he touched and made better.

January 4, 2011

I had the opportunity to work with Bob, he was truly a great mentor, friend, and leader. He was like a Hallmark card to work for. In the last couple of months I was able to contact him to let him know how much he helped shape my career and when he came to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital to come up and see me.

He will be remembered and missed by many.

My deepest sympathy,

Dear DeBaun Family,

Bob DeBaun will always be one of the most wonderful human beings I have ever known. In the short time of our acquaintance, he was able to make a tremendous impact on me and served as both a mentor and friend. He was there when I needed him, and I was incredulous that he gave of himself so freely. I deeply appreciated his warmth, wisdom, kindness, generosity of spirit, and his faith. I will never be the same for having known him.

While those of you closest to him will feel the loss most acutely, he will truly be missed by many, including me. It is remarkable how many of us have benefited from his life and have similar things to share. I feel deep sadness, but will use this sadness as a reminder to pray especially for your family and others closest to him, that the God of all comfort will hold you close and give you peace.

I am very, very thankful to have known Bob.

With deepest regard and sympathy,

Bob was a wonderful leader, mentor and man. His passion, spirit and energy were an inspiration. He truly cared. He made a difference in his many contributions, and he impacted many people in such positive ways. Among my many memories of Bob, I always smile when I think of the times Bob would drop a $20 spot award out of the blue on an unsuspecting meeting participant. It was always such fun and it brought everyone to life. Bob was always giving, and always thinking of others.

Our deepest sympathies go out to you Jane, Elizabeth, Jason and Blake. May the life and the many loving experiences and memories you shared with Bob bring you strength and added comfort and during this difficult time.

Dear DeBaun Family
I don't think we've ever met but Bob was a good friend of my fathers. My dad has always spoke very highly of him and a few years back I had the chance to meet with him. He offered to help me and talk with me about my plans for life and a career. He took the time, despite his busy and I'm sure hectic life, to just sit and talk with me. He was one of the kindest, positive, and most gentle people I have ever met. He encouraged me to follow my dreams, and in a time of personal despair he assured me that I would be okay no matter what path I chose. He was a very special man to those who knew him well, and even to those who like me, were just lucky enough to meet him. He was an inspiration and a great help to both me and my family. I'm sorry for your loss, he was a wonderful, generous man.

Bob personified courage, grace and sheer humanity. He & Maria were diagnosed at about the same time and he did more to inspire us to carry on the brave battle than any doctor could do. He embraced his challenge and through his quiet leadership showed us all the way to live life to its fullest. He didn't lose his battle with cancer. He won the peace that he so richly deserves.
