James "Steve" Riggs

Crooked Oak community

James Stephen "Steve" Riggs, 60, of the Crooked Oak community passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 in Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Riggs was a native of Lawrence County, but had lived most of his life in Colbert County in the Crooked Oak community. He was a truck driver employed by Tango and a member of the Russellville Masonic Lodge No. 371.

Funeral will be today, September 19, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Dwight Love officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens. The visitation will be prior to the service from noon until 3 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Riggs; son, Jason Riggs and wife, Misty, all of Crooked Oak; mother, Effie "X.L." Riggs of Mount Hope; grandchild, Lindsey Riggs; sisters, Kathy Little and husband, Kennard, Brenda Riggs, all of Mount Hope, Betty Patterson, and husband, Glen, of Tuscumbia; brothers, Charles Riggs and wife, Frances, of Neel, Bobby Riggs of Moulton; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Smith, Brett Riggs, Robby Curnutt, Kenneth Lindsey, Justin Gann and Kenny Herndon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tillman Riggs.

Such shocking news. I enjoyoed a lot of good times in my younger years playing music with steve on out of town gigs.he was a dedicated man at things he done . A true American trucker!!

I am so sorry to hear of Steve's Passing. He was a classmate of mine at MT.Hope. I know that he will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you all at this time of sadness.
