Travis Stanley Obituary

Travis B. Stanley went to see his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in Selmer, Tenn., at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 1 day. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Sanctuary of Praise, 8341 Wyatt Drive, White Settlement. Mr. Stanley was born July 13, 1930, in Texaco, N.M., the son of the late Walter and Ellen Griffin Stanley. He was a former Assembly of God minister in Fort Worth before moving to Tennessee. He managed several retail grocery stores and was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. In his spare time, he enjoyed buying, selling and collecting junk. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Stanley; his parents; and two brothers, Doyle Stanley and Donald Stanley. Survivors: Daughter, Barbara Alderett and husband, Rudy, of New Mexico; sons, David Stanley and wife, Lynn, Travis Stanley and wife, Sharon, and Gary Stanley and wife, Debbie, all of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, John Stanley and wife, Mary Ann, of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Shyrl Smith of Adamsville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Linda Stanley of Fort Worth; the mother of his children, Marcell Stanley; and many extended family and friends.
