Quintina Donald Obituary

1st MSG Quintina Donald,

Ms. Donald, 43, was a graduate of Williston High School Class of 1984. She was involved in many endeavors, such as being the first Black Head Majorette of Williston High School, the first Black Female Exchange Student (Brazil), a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club. Ms. Donald also was involved in many sports activities while at Williston High School such as, Softball, Basketball, Cheerleading, and the Marching Band. She received a two year Scholarship at Sante Fe Community College. After receiving an Associate's Degree, she then joined the United States Military in 1987. While in the military she became a member of the All Army Softball Team, and an Eastern Star. Ms. Donald traveled to many countries while she was on tour of duty. Ms. Donald was an accomplished individual and a loving mother.

She is survived by, son, Cory Stacy; granddaughter, Charlee Stacy; father, Eugene Donald, Sr.; mother, Geraldine Donald; grandmother, Aggie Mae Donald and siblings, Eugene Donald, Gerald Donald, Adina Donald, Stephanie Thomas, Russell Frazier, Stacey Walker, Maria Scott, Latoya Scott, Jerry Scott, Travis Donald and Tangela Frasier.

The services 1st MSG Donald will be held on Saturday January 9, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Unity Temple of Deliverance of Williston, Florida. Visitation Hours will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Church. Burial will follow in Chiefland Community Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carnegie Funeral Home, 217 SE 4th Avenue Chiefland, Florida.

Tina I lost track of you when I let Japan in June 2006. We never dd establsh whether or not we were related in this life. Dear Cory, our prayers go out to you and your family. We are deeply saddend for the loss of your mom. I have so many crazy stories and fun memories of the time that your mom and I were drill sergeants at Fort Leonard Wood. You were truly the light of her life, and you should strive everyday to make her proud. I was stationed with MSG Donald in Camp Zama, Japan. She was my Platoon Sergeant; but it felt more like she was my Mother. She was the most nurturing, caring person that you could ever meet or imagine.

I remember December of 2002; she was going home for Christmas (Williston) and I asked her to drop some Christmas presents off to my Mother; because my Mother lives 15 minutes from Williston. MSG Donald did not hesitate to do me that huge merciful favor.

When I had surgery at Yokosuka Naval Hospital she called me every other hour to check on me. She was an Angel of mercy that would spread happiness in any room that she would step in. She always had something encouraging to tell you. I cannot say enough about Quintina Donald. Cory keep your head up.

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance. In accordance with the Master’s Plan, now is the time for us to honor and pay tribute to Master Sergeant (MSG) Quintina M. Donald.

When searching for one word that best describes MSG Donald, the word which rises to the top of the list is ‘real.’ She was real and she kept it real.

Debra Winger starred in the movie “An Officer and a Gentleman.”

MSG Donald was the star of “A Leader and a Lady” and we were the supporting cast.

Her military accomplishments include First Sergeant, Intelligence Directorate Sergeant Major, Senior Drill Sergeant, Audie Murphy Club, Army Softball Team, Military Intelligence Corps Association Knowlton Award Recipient, Master Fitness Trainer, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge and Air Assault Badge, to name a few.

MSG Donald mastered the art of balancing her role as a Non-Commissioned Officer and a leader of Soldiers with her duties and responsibilities of a mother, a grandmother, a god mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and a friend. She was a leader and a lady.

Competence was her watchword. She was an active leader and a terrific mother, role model and friend. She understood all Soldiers were entitled to outstanding leadership, but she knew Corey demanded the love and nurturing only a mother can give.

She was loyal, fair and impartial to the seniors, peers and subordinates she served with, while at the same time ensuring discipline, instilling obedience and demanding order in Corey and friends.

Her integrity was uncompromising and her moral courage was strong. She accomplished every mission and achieved every personal goal established.

MSG Donald placed the needs of Soldiers and the mission ahead of her personal agenda. I recall having to call her on a Saturday afternoon to go to the Sinai on Wednesday. LTC Raven wasn’t thrilled, but she said, I got it. Two weeks after returning, we deployed as part of the Advance Party and she served twenty-five months supporting the TSC mission.

On last Saturday the General of the Army of Life had a staff call. There was a priority requisition requiring a fill. The life platoon needed a First Sergeant.

The G1 without any hesitation or reservation recommended MSG Quintina M. Donald and said he could have the orders ready for signature in ten minutes.

The G2 confirmed her clearance and stated she possessed access to all the information required.

The G3 stated she was fully trained and ready to assume the mission.

The G4 stated she was in receipt of all the necessary equipment.

The G8 stated all applicable fees were paid in full.

About this time, I imagine MSG Donald rose up with her Drill Sergeant tenacity and electrifying smile and said wait a minute, what about Corey, what about Charlee Noel, what about my family, what about my Soldiers, what about my friends, what about the Florida Gators?

The Command Sergeant Major stood up and said, MSG Donald, you were a coach, you were a mentor and you were a teacher.

You provided everyone a blueprint to follow to live a well founded life.

You were true to family, friends, Soldiers and the United States Army; to thyself you were true; that’s called LOYALTY.

You lived the Non-Commissioned Officers Creed, you made the complicated look simple and you always did the right thing; that’s called DUTY.

You understood that one must command their own self-respect, before you earn the respect of others; MSG Donald, you were respected; all of us present are the proof; that’s called RESPECT.

You gave the best of yourself; the accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of Soldiers were always uppermost in your mind, and you ensured officers had maximum time to accomplish their duties. Because of you, CPT Herman can become MAJ Herman; SGT Clay has the knowledge to become SSG Clay; SGT Williams know what it takes to become SFC Williams and SFC Brooks knows what it takes to become MSG Brooks; that’s called SELFLESS SERVICE.

You taught that every action has a direct affect upon esprit de corps, unit camaraderie and ultimately the family name: that’s called HONOR.

You consistently demonstrated that your word was your bond. You did not say one thing and do another; that’s called INTEGRITY.



You mastered the art of being a Non-Commissioned Officer, a Leader, and a Lady. You set the standard. Your performance in “A Leader and a Lady” demands the Emmy. A defining moment was your step class graduation. In the matter of three hours you transformed from Solider in ACUs, to Lady in the black dress, back to Soldier in jeans and that Florida Gator orange. You never let being a leader conflict with being a lady; that’s called PERONAL COURAGE.

When the Command Sergeant Major was finished, the Commanding General said prepare the orders.

On Saturday, 02 January 2010, the Chief Public Affairs Officer of life published the orders; MSG Quintina M. Donald reported for duty.

The mortal transformed into immortality and the corruptible put on incorruption. She left us the blue print to be better citizens, leaders and Soldiers.

Thank you MSG Donald, because of your coaching we are stronger, due to your mentoring we are wiser and because of your teaching we are better. We will see you on the high ground Battle.

Losing someone is never easy. At times like these you have to lean on your faith and try to accept that "GOD" has a bigger purpose for us. I was so sad and just undone to hear about Tina. She was a truly thoughtful and caring person. Words "CANNOT" express the way some of us are feeling right now, but the good thing in knowing is that she is at peace with no more pain. She is resing now and will be truly missed. May all the Love that surrounds your family gives you strength.

It is with much sadness that I express my condolences to your entire family during such a great loss.
I was stationed in Iraq with Quintina in 2004 -2005. I didn't know her but a little while and it was so easy to call her "friend". She was a joy to be around and always had a smile on her face. She would brighten a room, just by walking in. Tina will be missed. May God bless you all.
