Rita Scott, lifelong resident

NORTHAMPTON - Rita (Chartier) Scott, 92, formerly of Coles Meadow Road in Northampton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, May 16, 2012, at Linda Manor in Leeds.

Rita was born in Northampton on Feb. 17, 1920, the daughter of the late Albert and Albina Chartier.

A lifelong resident, she was educated in local schools.

She was a longtime co-owner of the former Scott's Heating and Plumbing in Florence.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Florence.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Scott; her brothers, Sheldon, Robert and Clarence; and her sisters, Claire-Anna and Edna.

She leaves her sister, Irene Kathericus of Goshen, Conn.; her brother James Chartier of Springfield; a stepdaughter, Bette Ponton of Lake City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.

A private service with the Rite of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton.

Donations in Rita's memory may be made to the Florence Holiday Lighting Fund, P.O. Box 201, Florence, Mass., 01062.

The family has entrusted Rita's care with the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton.
