Clayton Engle

ENGLE - Clayton Davis Engle went peacefully to be with the Lord Saturday, July 17, 2011 at Spectrum United Health in the presence of his loving wife and family. Born February 8, 1919, Clayton met the love of his life Laura May whom he was married to for 69 years. They together had a large family of six children all whom he is survived by, Patricia Wiggins of Morgan City, LA, Robert Engle of Lowell, Martin (Jill) Engle of Greenville, Nancy Finch (Dennis Lynn) of Schoolcraft, Tom Engle (Vicki Rule) of Lowell, Helen Mary Norton of Grand Rapids. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Truman Wiggins; and four great grandchildren. Clayton was a proud member of the US Marine Corps and served 7 years during World War II. He farmed for many years on the family farm in Lowell and retired from General Motors after 17 years. He will not only be remembered for his love of golf and being an active member of the Moose but also his quick wit and sense of humor. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday 12:00 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell. Pastor Ken Harger Sr. of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior.
