William Harris Obituary

William Harris CONNELLY SPRINGS Mr. William W. "Bill" Harris, 66, of Connelly Springs, died Tuesday July 5, 2011 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba County, after a period of declining health. Mr. Harris was born May 18, 1945 in Burke County, a son of the late William Corral and Katie Harris Moody. Bill was a member of Grandview Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired as the owner and operator of a hosiery mill. In addition to parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelba Jean Ledford Harris. Surviving are three sons, Daniel Landgraf of Nurenberg, Germany, Tony and Kelly Harris of Connelly Springs, Danny and Chandra Harris of Lincolnton, two daughters, Donna Gail Harris of Mesquite, Texas and Michele Johnson of Connelly Springs. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Telisha Duncan, Jonathan Gouge, Desarae Harris, Ashleigh Harris, Shaina Harris and Peyton Harris and one great-grandchild, Ja'Kobe Tillery. Funeral services for William W. "Bill" Harris will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with Rev. Coley Bryant officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Grandview Baptist Church Cemetery, Morganton. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese. Memorials may be made to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba County, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658. An online guestbook and obituary is available at www.heritagefuneral services.com.

We were so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. Danny and I thought alot of Bill and Shelby. I guess we lost track of each other when we lived in Memphis. I think we saw Bill once since we moved back. May God be with the family and give you strength and comfort in the days ahead.

So sorry to hear about Bill. I knew him a very long time. I've heard him play the guitar quite a few times. My prayers & thoughts are with the family. Just found out today that he had passed away.
