Roscoe Stanley Comstock of Kalamazoo went to be with the Lord, in the early hours of Friday October 30, 2009. Roscoe was born in Vicksburg MI, on March 26, 1914 to father Edward John and mother Vera Mae Nash Comstock. In 1933 he was a graduate of Vicksburg H.S. On January 29, 1938 he married the love of his life, Violet Christine Jorgensen. The two had met when he was a patient at Fairmont Hospital for over a year after falling ill with severe pneumonia, Violet was a nurse at the hospital. The two remained happily married for over 66 years until Violet died at age 94 in August of 2004. For 30 years Roscoe, often referred to as "Rocky" worked for the Clarage Fan Company, a job he was very passionate about which took him all across the country. He and Violet were members of the Heritage Christian Reformed Church for nearly 64 years. Surviving Rocky are four children and their spouses, Stanley and Judie Comstock of St. Joseph, MI, Catherine and Forest Sweet of Lake Jackson, TX, Joyce and David French of Kalamzoo, MI, and Nancy and Peter Colvin of Pearl City, Hawaii. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Mildred Stanley, Clelia Dooley and Mary Jane Davis, as well as many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters Donna Baker and Betty Martin. All through his life Rocky was an avid hunter, fisher and golfer. He and Violet also loved the warm weather and spent winters with their daughter Catherine in Texas. After the death of his wife, Rocky began traveling between his four children's homes, taking him as far west as the island of Maui, Hawaii. When he arrived in Hawaii at age 90 Rocky completed his lifelong goal of finally visiting all 50 states. Contributions in his name may be made to Covenant Senior Day Program at 7211 Oakland Dr. Portage, MI 49024, where he spent many happy days. Or to Heritage Christian Reformed Church at 2857 S. 11th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Arrangements made by Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society.

I will miss you dearly great grandpa. I always had fun playing cards with you even though you beat me a majority of the time. And I will never forget all the ice cream and sweets we ate together :) I remember listening to music with you in grandmas living room and reading your life story which I will never forget. Love you and miss.

Grandpa I will miss you but I have many fond memories of you. We would always gather at your house for any family event and we would measure everyone on the basement wall. You and Woody were always the tallest. You and Grandma would watch Laurence Welk and it would drive me crazy cause I wanted to watch the Muppets. I also remember climbing the apple tree. Sliding upstairs on the hardwood floors with my socks. Above all I remember you smile and laughter. (You could of helped me out a little when Stanely's girls pinned me down and tickled me until I peed.)
Love you tons

Playing the go but cant stop game, eating lots of ice cream and cookies, and thank you for setting up the swing set for me. Climbing the apple tree, riding bikes down the hill to the church, our trips to the cabin, fishing, the awesome stories you use to tell me, our fun times together .... endless I will miss you so much. Thank you for all of the good times we had together. You are the best grandpa in the whole wide world. Love, Karen

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I knew Rocky at Clarage Fan. I enjoyed working with him and looked to him for advice. He would always give me straight answers and he could always be trusted. I was 19 at that time and he was always nice to that green behind the ears kid.
