Sameer Assad Obituary
Sameer John Assad was born on February 9, 1962 and passed away on June 24, 2011 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. He was the son of Lawahiz (Alkhal) Assad and the late John Ray Assad. He was loved by all who knew him. His familiar smile, his friendly manner, and his love for people will be greatly missed. He was a fan of New York Giants and anything Penn State. He enjoyed playing miniature golf, bowling and taking pictures. He was a participant in the Access Life Services Program and Step by Step. Mr. Assad was an active member of St. George Orthodox Church, Allentown. Survivors: Sameer is survived by his mother; his brother George, his brother Abraham and wife Lisa, his sister Mary and husband Thomas Pavlick; his nephews John Assad and Joshua Assad Pavlick; his niece Kate Assad, all of whom he loved very much. Services: Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at St. George Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Ave., Allentown. Viewing will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in the church, as well as 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Assad family is being served by the Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown. Contributions: Primarily to St. George Church, or Step by Step.

Dear Sameer, remembering you today and just wanted to send you a Happy Birthday thought. Jim, Michael and I talk about you and remember you as the sweetest,kindest,happiest and most loving man that you were.
Jim still carries the money clip that you gave him.
Michael always talks of the last time you, he and John were downstairs at your home, laughing and enjoying one another.

I feel blessed to be counted as one who knew Sameer and enjoyed his friendship. I miss his visits to my office and the lively conversations about his family, whom he loved, and the events of the day. My deepest sympathy goes out to Sameer's Family and Friends.

I feel so sad for you and am sad about Sameer. I know that your Father is looking after him now and both are looking over all of you. Abraham, John and Baby Kate - It was a pleasure to get to know you through your wonderful brother/uncle Sameer.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to your entire family at this time of saddness. The best thing anyone can leave behind are happy memories in the hearts and minds of those they loved. Sameer was successful in that respect. I know I will smile when I think of him knocking on my office door to tell me about his travel adventures, his family and his plans for the day.

It is probably the hardest thing for a family to lose a loved one, and Sameer was a specially loved one. The whole family lost him. I am sure you know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We send you our love from across the globe and although there are no words that can console our sad hearts with his departure, I hope you find a little comfort in Gibran's words from 'The Prophet':

Sameer was a special and wonderful person. Whenever in his presence, I was reminded that no matter what obstacles we face in life - life itself is a gift to be cherished. I only wish that I could have the courage he had to smile in the presence of many challenges. Abe, i work for Access Services and was beyond devastated when i heard the news yesterday... Sameer and i had a very special bond at work and i am forever going to remember his smile, his pictures that he gave me over the years, his laugh, gentle heart, and famous saying Oh Boy what a day! Sameer's love for his family was very strong and I know this must be very hard for you all but he is now with God, whom he spoke very highly of and he will surely be looked after while up in Heaven.
