Dear Santos, My 1st Best Friend, my Brother.... Its been a long time since you've been taken from the family. To me it still hurts like an open wound that will never heal. I read all these comments, and looked up your star thinking it would help ease my pain a little, but it just brought back that night Tia Erma called me, as she told me if I could come home fast as I told her I was in the drive way feeling lost/odd she told me that you died, and it hit me like a ton of bricks I know why I felt that lost/odd feeling.... I lost my Brother, my best friend. Went we got to your house I see all the heart ache & pain that everyone was feeling I know it was real. I got home and sat outside and watched the 1st Sun Rise that you would not be here to wake up to I took a picture an I just lost control an Cried so load hoping you would hear my sadness and call me to ease my heart ache. I've never told any one about that picture or about that sad Sun Rise alone its been eating at my heart for 7 yrs. I lost my only true friend that kept me safe and watched my back as I watched yours even thought that's what brothers do we did it because we didn't want the other one to get hurt. I'm sorry I wasn't there to make sure you didn't get hurt that night I wish I could of been..... I Love you & I'll see you soon Sant. Your Brother & Best Friend Isaac

I just want to give my condolences to your family. I met Santos back in 1999 and he was a really great guy. I last seen him at the end of 2005 and I remember him praising me because I was finally drug free and doing something with my life, then he hit the switches on his truck ha ha, I'm still in shock about what happen but I wish your family all the blessings in the world.

Dear Mr and Mrs Pena. I am not sure if you remember me but i had some childhood memories with Santos ( I am one of Edith Gamch's Granddaughter). My husband past away a couple of days before Santos did from a motorcyle accident as well. I have been told it gets easier and I am waiting for that moment. My prayers are with you and your family. I have learned that having true faith in GOd has givin me the strength to get through such tragedy

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I didn't know Santos personally, but my heart goes out to his family and friends in the neighborhood. I am amazed by the outpouring of love and support from everyone. This tragic incident of your son has touched many many people and many hearts. It has brought a neighborhood together! You should be proud to have had a son like Santos. May he rest in peace. --"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" He is in a better place.
