April 10, 2012
My sympathy and gratitude goes out to the family of Mr. Edwards. I met Mr. Edwards while attending Warren Easton Fundamental High School in the mid-90's.
I would like to share this with you. One day while I was @ school, the elevator wasn't working and being that I am disabled, Mr. Edwards wanted to pick me up and carry me down a flight of stairs. I didn't want him to hurt himself, so I convinced him that I could walk a little and he graciously helped me walk step by step down to the bottom floor. I will never forget that. He was such a good person & a great administrator. I will truly miss him.
Peace to the family,

Mr. Ed: Thank you for guiding and supporting my son through some (sometimes) turbulent events during his high school years. Ronnie has said that he often felt that "Mr. Edwards was the only one in my corner."
I specifically remember your presence at the New Orleans Museum of Art in support of my son's art entries in the Black History contest.
You are one in a million and my family will always remember your kindness, concern and support. (I do believe that you can read all of the beautiful entries in your guest book from your place in Heaven!)

On Behalf of The Class Of 1982, We Want To Send Our Condolences to Mr. Edwards Family. A Man Of Character and Compassion. He Never Met A Stranger. He Was A Man After God's Own Heart. He Had That Special Bond With Our Class That Could Never Be Broken. As You Have Seen and Heard All The Wonderful Things Said About Him, Just Know That Some People Are Meant To Pass Through Our Lives and Have An Impact That Will Change The Direction Of Your Life. He Did Just That. We Will Never Forget, Nor Will We Be The Same, Because He Truly Made A Difference And That Alone Was ENOUGH. He Has Recieved His EAGLE WINGS and He's Flying All Over Watching Us From Above. He Can Blow His Horn And Spread His Wings, Because It's So Well Deserved by A Man Who Impacted So Many. Rest Until We Meet Again Mr. Edwards.

As a teacher you open up our young minds and challenge us to make good decidions as we stepped into the world, only the best teachers would care enough to push us to do our very best. It wasn't easy but you got the job done. Your a very admired teacher who cared and always had our best interest in your heart. As a role model you inspired us to dream, to work and to reach for what we wanted and for that I Thank You. It's been a real pleasure having you teach me.

My Sympathy to the family of Philmon Edwards.
Thanks to GOD for having the opportunity to see and talk with him at our high school reunion in 2010. I had not seen him since our graduation in 1960. Philmon and I were in Mrs. Aaron home room. We along with a few others were her favorite students.
It is so heartwarming to read all of the nice things that his students have written. Family you must feel comforted.
Keep all your memories of Philmon in your heart and thank GOD for having shared him with you.

To the family of Mr. Philmon Edwards;
When our son was a student at Warren Easton High School, he always had good remarks about Mr. Ed and, he continued his relationship with him up to Hurricane Katrina. It was because of that relationship that we encouraged our grandchildren and other children of our church to attend Warren Easton.
Mr. Edwards was an excellent role model, advocate for youth, excellent administrator and a true friend. We know that you have wonderful memories and hope that they provide comfort to you at this time.
You are in our prayers.

Mr. Edwards was an awesome man. He was firm, yet fair. He was passionate about students and education. I will cherish the fond memories that I have of him. There are so many things that I remember about him. Mr. Edwards made announcements over the P.A. System like only he could. When he called a student to come to the office and added "NOW" on the end everyone knew that, the student was in trouble. :-) I can hear Mr. Ed clear as day saying " I repeat & reinterate."
Last week I can imagine Jesus saying, "servant come to Heaven and take your rest... I repeat and I reinterate, there's a crown waiting on you!"
To the family of Mr. Edwards, you all are in my prayers.

My heart was saddened when I heard the news of Mr. Ed's passing. But as I began to reflect on the man that touched, molded and changed countless lives; including mine, with his no nonsense, yet compassionate approach to education and life, I smiled. Mr. Ed answered the call of being an educator, mentor and father figure to the Warren Easton students tirelessly for decades. “Govern yourselves accordingly, and do everything in decency and order,” was his coined phrase. But last week Mr. Ed answered his final call when the God said “Servant, well done."
My prayers are with his family who unselfishly shared a wonderful dedicated, God fearing man. May God bless and keep you all.
