hey Chad,
I thought about you today.. again. I needed to come to this webpage for someone else figured I'd check in with you... I find myself thinking about you quite a bit, most of the time remembering the good stuff when we were growing up. B-ball with Brad and Jeff until midnight hours, man the folks that lived next door must have hated us. Or when your mom took us camping and you caught a huge crappie, only to have me accidently cut it loose. The look on your face was priceless - I ruined your day, after an hour or so you talked to me again. That was such a fun trip, I have no idea how your mom put up with us.
Thanks for looking out for me and my family so far. I hope you'll continue to do so. And if you have a chance, maybe you could come back down and visit nathan sometime in the night. Tell him there aren't any monsters under his bed, only angels that come to check on them and make sure they're not waking their parents up. That would be a huge help.
Thanks Chad - talk to you soon.

Chad,
I have looked at this website so many times I've lost count. I don't know why now I decided to write you. I miss your laugh and smile. I'm sad for the fact we lost contact for a few years prior to your death. There are so many times when I say or do something and I think of you and know you are laughing with me. My car still switches engines, I still think that place right outside of des moines is a junk yard and I can still see you singing Mockingbird, dumb and dumber style. You were ALWAYS a great friend, and you always helped me no matter what it was.
I cant believe it has already been 3 years....I hope your kids understand how truely amazing their daddy was!!!
I love you....your friend forever, Katie Heithoff Darrington

Smith Family:
I just learned today about Chad's tragic accident. My daughter Anne died last month as a result of a tragic fall. She was only 27. My son Brian called me today to let me know that he knew Chad. I am so sorry for your loss. Our hearts ache as we truly understand what you are going through. May your hearts be filled with happy memories as you learn to live a life without Chad. Bless you all.

We just learned today of Chad's untimely death. He and our son, Scott, played soccer during their junior-high days with Roger Skaw's team. Chad was always a quiet, polite young man. In later years he and Scott rode dirt bikes together and became great friends. Scott was shocked to hear of Chad's death. Our sympathy and prayers are with his parents and his young family.

Chad was always more of a brother to me than a cousin. I've thought back about my childhood this past week, and I have very few memories that do not include Chad. He touched my life in ways he'll never know. I promise, I will do everything in my power to make sure that Kim and the kids are taken care of from this point forward. I'll also try to some how to fill the void left in Randy and Julie's lives. They have always treated me as if I were a son of their own, and I've never forgotten that. I know Chad would do the same if the situation was reversed. My only regret is that we didn't spend more time together these past couple of years. Chad used every extra minute working on his house and was too proud to ask for help. Chad will be truely missed. My love goes out to him and his family.

Julie-
My heart and prayers are with your family. Thanks to Patrick for letting me know about Chad. From what I know about working with you, I am sure Chad was a wonderful person. How could he be any different. Time will heal and the memories of a great son will linger forever. The grandchildren will help to keep his memory alive.
Love and prayers to all of you.

Dear Amy, Randy & Julie: My deepest condolences for the loss of Chad. Although words can't take away the pain you feel for this loss, I just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Chad - Distance can put a strain on friendships... but it is funny how a 30 minute conversation can make it seem like I never left. You were always genuine - told it how it was, yet able to see the big picture of what life was all about. I'm sure I'm not the only one that learned from that. Thanks for the midnight b-ball games, fishing trips that never amounted to a record catch (mostly bullheads), and golf outings that normally included one broken club (the dreaded driver). Do me a favor and watch over your family while you're up there. And if you want to push me in the right direction every now and again, please do so. Your pal, Tom
