Jesse D. Larsen Sr.

1933 - 2011

NEW LONDON - Jesse D. Larsen Sr., 77, of Cornell Street, New London, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in Oneida Healthcare.
He was born July 30, 1933, in Rome, the son of Peter and Erma Hess Larsen.
Jesse attended Verona High School.
On February 19, 1955, he married Fay Myers in Rome.
He was employed by the United States Post Office for over 25 years, retiring in 1992, and later was employed at Turning Stone Resort and Casino for 10 years, retiring in 2003.
Jesse was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Verona and a life member of the Rome VFW Post 2246 and the Henry P. Smith Post of the American Legion. .
Surviving are his wife, Fay, one daughter, Karen Larsen, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jesse Larsen Jr., Robert and Dawn Larsen, all of Rome; two sisters, Edith Dutcher, Cleveland, N.Y.; Alvina Theall, Rome; two grandsons, Brian Larsen, Douglas Larsen and his wife, Maranda and one great-granddaughter, Alexis. He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Jean, one sister, Dorothy Gormel and three brothers, Donald, Peter and Francis Larsen.
Jesse's family wishes to express their gratitude to Marvin Hartzog, the ICU staff at Oneida Healthcare, physicians at Tri-Valley Family Practice and friends, Gabe Ciotti and Dick and Jennie Seymour for their thoughtfulness during his illness.
Funeral services for Jesse D. Larsen Sr. of New London, will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
