I first met Keith in the 80's when we were both relatively young defense attorneys. I really had the pleasure of working with Keith in the last few years when both of us had "switched sides" and he was helping to get justice for genuinely injured people. Keith was just a decent guy and had that great presence that commanded your attention. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing and understood at a very personal level a lot of the things that pull at us and challenge us as lawyers as dads as friends and as people. Hearing of Keith's passing reminds of the precious gift of life of love and most of all of friendship. I sense that Keith is at peace and pray earnestly that his family find God's peace during such a difficult time.

Keith was my longest and dearest friend of over 40 years. We had a brotherly love for each other that shall never end. His spirit shall always be with me to the end of my own life. We held each other up, prayed for each other, counseled each other and encouraged each other in all matters of life. I will miss Keith. His life brought me a thousand memories and his passing a thousand tears. Keith was my advocate. I could tell him anything without fear or judgement or criticism. What more could friend offer than the safety of the friendship I shared with Keith.

Dear Keith:We just knew each other over the phone. You referred me several clients. You were working on some significant cases involving employment law. Your demeanor and enthusiasm were
evident. I trust God will hold your family in the palm of his hand during this most trying of life's "adventures." God bless you. It was my pleasure to know you. Ben Card

I first met Keith in 1971 thru mutual friends . I have many fond memories of him. Over the years our paths would cross out of the blue and every occasion that happened it was always a wonderful time. I can almost hear the sound of Keith’s laughter and voice as I write this, he had such a distinctive voice, infectious laugh, sense of humor and wonderful smile…. Keith was brilliant in so many ways, but most of all …..a kind, gentle, compassionate soul, I will miss him and never forget him.

I worked at Spray, Gould & Bowers from 1982 to 1988, and Keith always had a kind word and smile to give to us on a daily basis. He was one of those that you would call a "gentle giant". You always knew where you stood with him, but you also knew that if something went terribly wrong, you could walk into his office and he would help you work it out. Keith, you will be truly missed

Keith made things happen...he turned dreams into reality. He would always want to provide you with whatever it took to achieve your desire. He was there for me in every way when my daughter Cody Jean Thorne was killed..he was a rock that I needed. I will always remember the jam sessions and his heartfelt licks on his old red SG...what carefree times those were, Keith..thanks for all those good memories.I will miss you my friend.Save a seat at the party for me and the rest of your pals. love, Greg Thorne

I have known Keith Walden since 1975 when we started together as young associates at Spray, Gould & Bowers. Over the decades, we have had may exciting conversations about the law and how it can be improved and advanced. While having these conversations, Keith always punctuated them with his own wonderful humor. He was always supportive of his friends. His loyalty commanded others to return the same loyalty.

Not only did Keith Walden have a fun personality, he also had great integrity. Keith truly believed that his primary duty of loyalty rested with always protecting the insured against overlimits liability, even if it meant standing up to the liability insurer. He took very seriously the then evolving doctrine that all of us know today as the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. We have lost a good friend and all insureds have lost a great champion. I am looking forward to seeing you, Keith, in the next life.

I haven't seen Keith in too long of a time , but as a kid growing up on Rainer and Ethelbee Way, he was very kind and always cool.I wish I could have said goodbye. Always the athelete, with a huge smile and memorable laughter. Wish I could attend his celebration of life, my thoughts will be there.

Keith taught me a lot during the years we worked together; not only about litigation, but also about integrity and humility. I respected him as a great litigator and a genuine and decent man. I am a better attorney having known him and I will always value the experience and time spent learning from him. He will be greatly missed and I offer my sincerest condolences to his family.

I was one of the managers of litigation for State Farm Insurance. Keith worked on many lawsuits for me and demonstrated exceptional abilities as a lawyer. While I was impressed with his legal abilities I was even more impressed with his character as a man. He proved himself in many varied cases to be a man of extreme integrity in addition to being very compassionate and supportive. Keith was a proud parent, an excellent conselor and good man. We will all miss Keith, but we know he is in a better place.

When I last talked to Keith after Christmas, he spoke proudly about the accomplishments and maturing of his son, Matthew, as a farmer and lover of music and nature in northern California and of his daughter, Jessica, as a beautiful, cultured, bright and inquisitive student at UC Santa Cruz. My family and I were blessed with spending a lot of quality time with Keith and his kids during their early development. Keith greatly appreciated the time he got to spend with Matt and Jessica. He loved to fish in the ocean with Matt, despite Keith's propensity for getting sea sick. He read to Matt and Jessica almost every night, despite the tiring stresses of the lawyer day. It was of primary importance to Keith to be a loving Dad, a good and respectful son and a kind and loyal friend to many. His sensitivity and compassion helped many of us through our own difficult times. Keith was a brilliant trial lawyer, an accomplished southpaw golfer and tennis player, a scholar and avid reader, a contemplative philosopher, a kind and charitable spirit, a seeker of truth and patron of culture---music,cooking and all the arts. Keith loved nature---Hawaii, Wasatch Mountains, ocean, forests, skiing, boating and biking. As an employer and a leader, he believed in allowing everyone the independence needed to fulfill their responsibilities. He seemed to raise his kids with the same emphasis on independence and responsibility. He loved his family and friends. Few may have known that Keith loved animals and made generous contributions to the SPCA. Keith was deeply spiritual and a faithful believer in God. I have no doubt from where Keith now hales. If you look up above the Southeastern horizon just before dawn, you will see the brightest star in the sky. When I saw the star the morning after hearing of his death, it gave me pause to picture Keith resting and at peace and to contemplate the unlimited eternity of our souls. I know the essence of Keith will remain in all of us. He was loved and respected by many. Keith's good energy will be painfully missed by all.We were very close. See you Keith in the Big Court in the sky.

I had the pleasure of working with Keith for many years and will miss his good nature and his infectious laughter. Andrea and I once pulled a day long prank on a coworker and, upon seeing Keith walking down the hallway towards us at the end of the day, I held my breath, thinking uh oh, we're in big trouble now! As he got closer, he suddenly busted out laughing to the point he was doubled over. When his laughter calmed down he said, "That was the best prank you guys pulled!" I have many happy memories of working with him and although I haven't worked with Keith for many years, I still remember with fondness the last thing he said to me and it makes me smile. To Matt, Jessica, and Keith's family and friends, my sincere condolences.

Keith and I were very good friends in high school and played tennis, football, raced our MGs sport cars, went to the Colorado River waterskiing, got crazy as could be and generally had a good time. He enlightened me to new adventures in life and was always quick with a laugh and maintained an intensity that was infectious to me. Not without faults, but always a decent moral guy. Did not see him for decades and now to hear of his passing reminds me how important maintenance of friendship is and my regret for our not keeping up that bond. You teach me even in death Keith. Thanks for the years we were close!!! Matthew and Jessica, please take the best of your dad's life and build on that. He was good. So sorry.
