VARNA - Robin E. Whitaker, 50, of Varna died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at his residence.
A celebration of life will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at United Methodist Church in Varna. The family requests everyone wear their favorite sports attire in memory of Robin. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Cancer Care Center, OSF Hospice or Varna Fire Protection District.
Calvert Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robin was born June 5, 1961, in Streator, the son of John H. and Jene L. Bails Whitaker Jr. He married Angie J. Hattan on July 17, 1999, in Varna. She survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, Alex Dickerson at home; a brother, John Bill Whitaker of Peoria; and three sisters, Susan (Charles) Lohr of Wenona, Barbara Johnstone of Green Bay, Wis., and Sydney (Rich) Petro of Holmen, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles.
Robin was of the Methodist faith.
He graduated from Mid-County High School.
He was an avid sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

I am so sorry to here about Bun.It is so easy to loose touch whith someone.Bun was our right fielder on the Boardwalk softball team.He always had us laughing.He was a very good player.Willie Evans Lacon Il.

I have so many good memories of Bun growing up with him in the big town of Varna. Whether it be whiffle ball, flashlight tag, hanging out at Jerry' house with the gang or whatever it was we did we Varna "kids" were one big family! My sympathy goes out to all of his family. He was a great guy. God Bless you Bun.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Bun. I will never forget him and all the good times as kids growing up in a small town we were like one big family. My brother played ball with Bun. I have many pictures to remind me of all the good times from flash light tag to kick the can. the list goes on there are wy to many things to list but my heart goes out to the family in your time of loss.

The strength of your love for Bun is a testimony to the good man he was. He was always willing to let us hone ambulance skills on him; that's a measure of his faith in others. He will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Bun was a very good friend to my late husband Paul Bade and I can only imagine they are together again, up to the hijinks they loved so well.
