DEREK PHILLIPS Obituary
Age 20, a 2008 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School, suddenly on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010. Beloved son of Janet Phillips; loving brother of Rachel, cherished grandson of Mary Lou Phillips and the late James M. Phillips. Precious nephew of Kim Phillips, Dolores (Alan) Dal Pos, & Linda (David) Hoffman; cousin of David and Jared Hoffman. Also greatly missed by great aunts, great uncles, cousins, many friends and co-workers. Derek had a love for all sports especially hockey & football. He wrestled for U.S.C. High School. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS, Friends welcome at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray 724-941-3211 Thursday & Friday 2-4 & 6-9pm. where service will be held Sat. at 10am. Interment Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family. Please view or add tributes at www.beinhauer.com

I miss you buddy! I think about you all the time. When it’s a hot day I think about how you use to ride your bike everywhere. I wont have my partner in crime for the Pirate games this year. It’s not going to be the same without you…. I remember how you use to take so long to get ready and David and I would be sitting in his car cracking jokes out the window, as you would run down the stairs. I really miss you guys. I cant believe your gone, all I can think of is when we were little kids running around playing tag or watching TV in your living room. We were in the same class since we started school at Eisenhower. In high school we became such good friends. I will always remember Mrs. Long English class. You sat behind me and you were always kicking my chair, complaining you were hungry or just wanted the weekend to be here. When we both graduated together I cried, we were all grown up. I want to thank you for being such a good friend and I will always remember the good times we shared growing up and the good times we shared with David. I will miss you dearly! Take care of David and Tara and I know they will take care of you! I pray for your family everynight!

Mrs. Phillips I'm so sorry, Derek was one of my best friends throughout high school. I'm sorry I couldn't make the services, I don't have a car up at school. Mike and I took Derek to sticktime to play hockey with us countless times and although Derek couldn't skate that well he loved to play the game it was inspiring to all of us. May his soul rest in peace.

I was on the wrestling team with Derek when we were 8 years old. He always made me smile with his sense of humor. Nothing changed in high school, we would sit together during study halls and joke around. He was an amazing person, and I won't forget him.

My name is Rene' and I am David's cousin. I never met Derek, but if he was friends with my cousin...he was a pretty dang good kid. My heart is breaking for all of the familys involved. Derek is home and is watching over all of you. I met Derek in 8th grade and his smile melted my heart. We were friends but once we reached high school we went our separate ways. I always loved to see him in the halls just to catch a glimpse of that contagious smile.
