I was always struck by Monsignor Kerr's humility and equanimity at all times. He was a wonderful Christian man. I shall miss him.

Monsignor Kerr is one of the few religious figures who knew that religion should be about helping people only because they are humankind. I am a Muslim and I will always remember him as long as I remember that I have a bachelor degree and that I went to college because it was because of him.

Monsignor Kerr was a not only an outstanding educator and leading citizen of Allegheny County, but a good personal friend, as well.
As County Commissioner, I had the opportunity to witness first-hand the tremendous growth of LaRoche College under his leadership, as I was invited to many of the college's Groundbreaking and Dedication ceremonies.
Monsignor Kerr will be remembered by so many thousands of friends and admirers as a great humanitarian and humble servant of the Lord.

We knew Monsignor Kerr as students at FSU in the early 70's. He brought my husband into the church a week before he performed our marriage ceremony in 1975. We had kept in touch with him during his time at LaRoche and the Pope John Paul II Center in D.C. We always commented on how he never seemed to age, he still looked the same as we remembered him at FSU all those years ago. He will always be in our hearts.

I was privileged enough to have known Monsignor Kerr while he was the President of La Roche College and I was attending school there. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word. His influence reached people from all over the world. He is truly one of God's children. Until we see each other again....
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it".

We have loved him in life; let us not forget him in death. Msgr. Kerr touched the lives of thousands from high government officials to refugees in a camp in Bosnia or Rwanda. His goodness will go before him and be felt for generations by those who benefited from his generosity and compassion. May he rest in peace.

As a graduate of La Roche College, I saw first hand the profound change Monsignor Kerr made during his time there. He was a genuine and compassionate man who lived everyday to help those who were in need. He leaves the world a better place for so many. He will be missed dearly.

Monsignor Kerr quite literally saved the lives of many Bosnian and Croat refugees which he arranged for assylum & enrolled into LaRoche College. These students became my dear friends. These young men and women were excellent, gracious students who went on to be successful diplomats themselves. Bless you and rest in peace!!

Msgr. William A. Kerr touched our family in many ways; married our son, Douglas Hammel, baptized our grandaughter, Lynn Mary Hammel in New Orleans and celebrated our 50th anniversary Mass last November here in Florida;blessing our new home in Wexford, Pa. He was instrumental in bringing,Michael Bolebruch, our counsin from Slovakia to LaRoche College.
He will be sadly missed by our family.
His family was global, never forgetting
any name or whereabouts; thru his strength and love we had the priviledge of knowing this wonderful Priest and holy man!

Monsignor Kerr gave me a chance to begin my college career at LaRoche College, and I will always remember him for that. I was also fortunate to take one of his courses and he was one of the best teachers I have had the priveledge of learning from.
LaRoche College would not be the place that it is today without Monsignor Kerr's extrodinary leadership. The Catholic church and higher education lost one of their greatest ambassadors. He truly touched the lives of everyone that knew him. He will be missed by many.

Monsignor was astute, kind hearted, wise, understanding, compassionate, caring, giving, and a great teacher.
I appreciate greatly the time he gave during his time at LaRoche college, as I was able to benefit from all of his character qualities.
My regret is that he left LaRoche to work in D.C. the year before I graduated and I was unable to have the honor of having him shake my hand, pose in my grad photo, and pronounce me an undergraduate.
Last time I saw him was briefly at the visitation with Pres. and Lady Bush, here in Pittsburgh, four years ago.
That was a pleasant surprise. I will never forget that he remembered me, knew my name, asked about my family, and inquired about my impending graduation.
He will be missed.

while aware of his good works and contributions to international harmony i knew the monsignor as an individual of great kindness, when i would describe him to friends they had a chuckle as he did when told of my words. "if you set his shoe on fire he would look at you and ask if you were having a bad day". a rare man, memories of his kindness can only partially help fill the void of his passing

I was a student at LaRoche College and Monsignor Kerr was not only a great person, he was an excellent instructor. He taught me in one of my history courses, and he was always had a vested interest in every person he came across at the school. He will be missed.
