Mary B. Bahan

Montrose, PA: Mary B. Bahan, passed away May 7th, 2011 at Meadow View Senior Center, Montrose PA. She was born October 31st, 1914 in Friendsville, the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Agatha (Foran) Byrne. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Bahan, on December 2nd, 2004 and brother, Christopher J. Byrne, in 1992. She is survived by numerous cousins and many dear friends. Mary was a school teacher, having taught school at Flynn, Friendsville and Endicott. She served as Choconut Township secretary for several years. She was a member of the former St. Joseph's Parish and its altar and Rosary Society and auxiliary member of Legion of Mary. Mary had a wonderful memory recalling details of events in the past with the utmost precision. She also had a special love of her family history and was a resource person for those studying their family genealogy. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who was willing to help in whatever way asked. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10th, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Church, Friendsville, with Father Casimir Stanis officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Friendsville, PA. Visitation will be an hour before Mass at the Church. Memorial Contributions in Mary's honor can be made to St. Brigid's Parish, P.O. Box 75, Friendsville PA 18818 or to your favorite charity.

We used to live on Kellum Road and my dad used to hay with Joe, and my sister and I would stay on the back steps. Mary would bring us peanuts and drinks. They were both really nice people. Every time I go by the farmhouse, I can' t help but think of them.
