It's your 1 year anniversary this evening. I'm sad, yet relieved you are no longer in pain. I feel your presence more than I thought I would and I find it funny how you appear as that same gorgeous orange butterfly at the strangest time and places. It seems you know when I need you most. Our connection will never end. Forever....your girl, Jo

I feel you through them. Love always, Dave

The August 7th event to celebrate Mom's passing was just perfect. There was a nice group of people, family and friends, to say goodbye. I just wanted to thank everybody for their support and kindness, not only for that day, but still today, as she is missed by all.

August 1, 2010

The memorial service and gathering is still set for August 7th at 4pm...Matunuck State Beach on Succastash Road in South County. The cookout and memorial will be at 143 Edmond Drive, North Kingstown. Best directions are to take Newcomb Road(off Post Road near Quonset) and go to first stop sign and through it and look for Jay Street on the left. The house is at the end of Jay at the intersection of Edmond, and the event should begin at 6pm. Feel free to call me for any further information...401-884-2808. Thanks, Dave

Dave, I just learned of your Mom's passing from DK. I share your loss in a surprisingly deep way. Surprising, because I haven't seen the dear lady in nearly 40 years - and deeply, as she has remained in my thoughts over the years. As a 16-year-old-girl, I found the thought of meeting a boyfriend's mother to be a little scary, but from that first Betty Hornoff smile, throughout the time you and I dated, she showed me tremendous affection, warmth and unconditional acceptance. The other Guest Book entries here confirm that she was that way with everybody. I will always have a deep affection for her. My prayer for you and your family is to personally know God's perfect peace, enjoying a smile from time to time knowing that she's no doubt making Him laugh at every opportunity. May He bless you and keep you in your time of sorrow.

Betty June, I only wish that we had reconnected so much sooner. I've never met anyone like you with your unique brand of fun and warmth! You made me laugh - my favorite thing. I was just talking with Dave about how you always light up the room with that big smile and always have something nice to say to everyone you see. Now that your family has walked you right up to the door of your next adventure, please know that, in keeping with what Kelly just said, you helped create a new bond among those who were with you on that day. It's great to be around them because I know that a big part of that energy...is you. Miss you, my friend.

My sweet Nan, you were always the glue that kept the family together. Your smile would light up the room. I loved to sleep over your house, you were a friend I could tell anything to. You are a mother I can only hope to be if I have children. Love you always and forever!

I was awoken early this morning by someone holding my right hand. I thought it was my husband but he was not there. I knew instantly it was you standing by my bed holding my hand like I was holding yours one week ago today. You really are here. Thank you Nanny, I love you.

What can I say other than I miss my Nan. Sitting on her knee watching the people go by out her huge window on Edmond Drive. Watching Tom and Jerry with her after school was over rather than doing homework. She was like a second mom to me and for that I will never forget her or stop loving her.

Nanny, I can't thank you enough for sending me my message from you today. I was sitting on the beach and all of a sudden the biggest most beautiful butterfly fluttered around me and landed on my beach chair. I looked at it and said thank you Nanny, I know you are here and then it flew away. I have never ever seen a butterfly at the beach, never mind land on my beach chair. I know it was you and I thank you for coming to visit me. I love you so much......Jodi

We lost an angel and a wonderful woman who loved her boys so much! You were always there for me, as you would tell me you were my other Mom and you certainly were that to me over the years. Thanks for all your guidance and support over the years. I'll miss our chats, but most of all will miss your wonderful outlook on life and dedication to your family. Rest in peace and know I'll always be thinking of you!

Dear David & Family,
I was so shocked and saddened to learn of your mom's (grandmother's) passing. She was such a wonderful and caring person. Heaven has surely gained an angel. May you find comfort and peace in your memories of her.

Betty was a funny, feisty woman and will be missed by everyone who knew her. I met Betty when we worked together at BIF. She always called me "Cheryl-dene", trying to make a sothern belle out of me! We shared many good times. My sympathy to all her family.

Betty June is a remarkable, loving woman. She was born in West Virginia and is one of those really strong southern women you might read about in a novel. Her strength was her family and she loved them so very much, and showed that love every day, never bending in her special way to help each and every one. She is my best friend. She is my Mom. ~dave

She is that strong southern woman you might read about in a novel. She lived a good life and was always there for every member of her family, no matter what the situation called for, She responded every single time. She is such a remarkable person who cares deeply about family, friends, and wildlife. She is deeply loved and missed. She is my Mom... David
