Ruby Jacobsen Obituary

A resident of Independence, she died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at her home. She was born April 27, 1915, in Tangipahoa Parish and was 96 years of age. Mrs. Jacobsen was a founding member of Union Baptist Church. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Cecil Burch. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum, Independence. She is survived by two daughters, Susie Jacobsen and Annette Vicknair, both of Independence; six grandchildren, Greg Johnson and his wife, Mary Jo, Robert Vicknair and his wife, Angie, Shyral LaMarca, Lanette Johnson, Cormae Dolhond and her husband, Kenneth, and Joe Sinagra; six great-grandchildren, Ritchie LaMarca, Brian LaMarca, Jaime Jacobsen, Craig Sinagra, Chris Johnson and Amy Peco; five great-great-grandchildren, Emily LaMarca, Eric Jacobsen, Leah Jacobsen, Dylan Peco and Ava Peco; and an expected Johnson baby. Preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Myrl Jacobsen; daughter, Ruby Lee Johnson and her husband, Luther Johnson; parents, Samuel Dalton Carney and Angela Powell Carney; two sisters, Frances Neal and Susie Gates; two brothers, Dalton Carney and Alvin Carney; son-in-law, Robert Vicknair; and grandson-in-law, A.J.
