It has been almost a year since our loss, think of him so very often and expect him to call so we can have one of our talks. I know you must miss him terribly. What a great person, friend he was.

Dear Helen and Family,
I just learned of Les's passing, and I am at a loss for words. He was one of the kindest and dearest men I know. He was always caring and considerate of those who were friends and those who came to him and before him in their time of need and crisis. He was a mentor to those of us who took up the practice of law, and he always took the time to talk with us and guide us. I will always remember how his bright smile and sparkling eyes lit up a room. We share your loss and grief as his passing is a loss to the community he served so well for so many years. You are all in our prayers during this difficult time.
I am so sorry I was unable to attend the services.

I only met Judge Mason and Helen twice since moving to Powhatan in 1996. On both of those occasions both Judge Mason and his wife were the most gracious individuals I've ever met. You didn't know it, but you both made a profound impact on me and greatly made my transition to rural living bearable. I was impressed by the generosity Judge Mason exhibited to Mt. Zion Baptist Church. I hope knowing that Judge Mason will be sincerely missed by so many will be a comfort to you and your famiy. Sincerely, James & Carolyn Mayo, Ridge Rd., Powhatan, VA

Dearest Aunt Helen and family. Les had a twinkle in his eyes and always had a kind word for me and my family. Uncle Les was always good about seeing the positive side of things, even when they looked poor and was very diplomatic when giving advice. An awesome man that will deeply missed by our family and many...We love you all and are very sorry for your loss. Hugs and kisses, Dave, Fran, Michelle and Nick

For my dear friend Lee, her husband Chip, their boys and her family -
I learned only this morning from our friend, Diane, that your wonderful dad had passed away. Virginia has lost a favored son. He was so vital and fun the last time I saw him - I know you will miss him every day. Take comfort in the sincere sympathy of your family and friends. Love to you.

Helen and Family, our hearts are greatly saddened at the passing of Les. We loved him dearly and truly enjoyed our many visits with you both in your home. Our girls, Ashley and Candace, were also very fond of Les. He never failed to ask about them during our many conversations and visits. He was a very special person in our lives and a great friend of Larry's. We are sorry that we will be unable to attend the service but you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

No, this is not what I expected to see, cannot tell you how heartbroken I am. Cannot type through my tears.
