ESTELLE BURGESS Obituary

BURGESS, Estelle Cotten, 97, of Richmond, widow of Roy Earl Burgess, died Sunday, February 27, 2011. She was born in Dendron, Va., on June 18, 1913. She is survived by a son, Roy Earl Burgess II; a daughter, Mary Kathryne Eck and husband, Larry; two granddaughters, Beth Fitzwater and husband, Kirby, and Julie Bennett and husband, Scott; and four great-grandchildren, Thomas, Grace, Sierra and Caleb. Mrs. Burgess was an active member of Boulevard United Methodist Church since 1937, where she taught Kindergarten Sunday School and was a past president of the United Methodist Women. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Boulevard United Methodist Church. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Boulevard United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.
