David Barr Obituary

David M. Barr age 37, passed away July 31, 2006 in Tucson, AZ. David was a loving person who gave generously of himself and his talents who possessed uncanny mechanical abilities. While a manager at Fairfield Gulf Service in Fairfield, CT he spent many holidays working so his friends could spend time with their wives and children. Although he was in the process of starting his own web business in Tucson, he gave much of his talent away. David had an ability to put all at ease and left a lasting impression with his warm smile. He will be missed so much by his parents, Fred and Nancy of Tucson, AZ and by all who knew him. David is a true Christian in every sense of the word. Communion Service will be celebrated on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Santa Catalina Catholic Church, 14380 N, Oracle Road at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel (742-7901).

I met Dave on line at VBCity and soon came to appreciate his enthusiasm, helpfulness and generosity. Always willing to give; never expecting or accepting anything in return - an unusually unselfish combination of traits in this modern, material world that made him a special person.

His lively personality and friendly approach will long be remembered by his friends here on VBCity.

Dave gave of his time freely and happily. On more than one occassion his help and guidance have allowed me to stop working on a problem I couldn't figure out and spend that time with my family. That is something that I can never repay but will hopefully someday be able to provide to somebody else. Dave you will be sorely missed and I can only hope you know how many people you touched during your way too short stay with us. God speed.

Dear Mr and Mrs.Barr,

Although David and I have never physically met, we were good online friends. He was a member of the same programming community as am I. We chatted quite a bit in those community forums and via e-mail.

His aspirations were seemingly endless and had a god given gift for programming. I wish I knew him better as I am sure I could have learned a great deal more from him. Please know that Dave will be missed a great deal and has left a significant void in many people’s lives.

As you know, we will all see him again in that great place were all good souls are reunited.

My sincere condolences, David Wilburn

Mr. and Mrs. Barr

I met Dave 18 years ago at Westport Amoco. Dave had a flare for welcoming people into his life and became friends with everyone he met. I spent a lot of time with him over the years, good years, and will cherish those memories forever. Dave was a kind, generous and outgoing person and could always be counted on in time of need, he was ready to help everyone he met without hesitation. His warm smile was contiguous and it infected everyone around him. I am going to miss him but I know that now, he’s in a better place and will make others smile. He will always be in my heart.

Although we lost him so untimely, I know his love, kindness and enthusiasm affected many people whose lives he’s touched.

Fred and Nancy, I am very sorry for your loss, Dave was a great friend, thank you for always being kind to me.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Please find comfort in knowing that Dave touched so many lives in a spiritual way. The last time I saw David was when he helped us out when one of our cars broke down. He was so very good-natured and had a consistent smile on his face. I always knew how much he was loved by you, and I think it speaks volumes that he left his life in CT to be with you both in Arizona. Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. I hope that you will soon be able to look back at the quality of those 37 years and use all the happy memories to sustain you. You have my deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry for the loss of Dave. I was completely shocked when I saw his obituary in the paper. We had never met, but e-mailed for about 2 years. It was a joking, fun, give each other crap kind of e-mailing. I will miss him!! Please accept my thoughts, prayers and condolences to the Barr Family.

Dave was such a great guy. He spent many holidays with my sister, brother in law and their children. If Dave was going then i would go to because you knew it was going to be a fun time. Dave also got me out of many automotive jams and always knew the right thing to say to difuse stressful situations. We are so lucky to have had him in our lives, he will be sorely missed.

I met Dave in Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield, CT in 1986 and we immediately became good friends. We worked together at Westport Amoco for a short while and then went on to other opportunities. We have remained in contact over the years and over the last two years stayed in close contact. Dave was an excellent mechanic as well as an extremely amiable person. Dave was full of life and was game for pretty much anything from Rock concerts to flying cross country and climbing mountains. Dave had an uncanny ability to make people laugh and feel happy. Not just your normal everyday laugh but a body convulsing, aching laugh. Dave’s generosity goes beyond principle to where he would literally give you the shirt off his back. He has personally helped me more with my business than any other individual and would not accept a penny. He was able to do on a computer in five minutes what would take an established computer professional 5 hours. He could run circles around any computer expert I Know. His photography skills were also very sharp and over the years he has sharpened mine. Dave did not have a college degree; however, he was one of those individuals that trully did not need one. He was passionate about his work and determined to complete the project and achieve the best possible result.

We will all truly miss you Dave. You are a good man.

Your old CT friend,

Lawrence Hayward
