Tre's Big Game:
It was right before the game, Tre and his teammates prayed;
That God would cover them,
in every game they played.
As Tre knelt down in prayer,
He looked up to the sky;
The time was getting near,
but Tre didn't question why.
Tre felt the presence of his mother,
whom he missed everyday;
He stood tall and strong,
and told the Lord he was on the his way.
Tre's family and friends love him,
but he had to take this ride;
Don't shed any tears for Tre,
He'll see you on the other side.
Remember the practice plays,
and all the fun you had;
continue to love each other,
smile for Tre, don't be sad.
Tre we love you dearly,
We know you felt the same;
You've already graduated and went PRO,
playung defense in a bigger game.

I live in Saluda, SC. In 1973, our football team went 11-1. The top player on that team was RB Richard "Red" Brooks. On national signing day, he signed to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks under Paul Dietzel. On July 7, one month before camp began, he drowned during an outing at Lake Greenwood. His funeral was held at our stadium and it was packed. Not only by Saluda fans, but players and coaches from other schools as well. That's how respected he was. My condolences to the Turman family.

As others have stated before me, I did not have the privilege of knowing this fine young man, but his story touched my heart. To his family, friends, school, and community, I offer my heartfelt prayers and sympathy as I sit here reading the tributes to your beloved Tre Tre (with tears flowing), I have no profound words that will take away the pain you are feeling right now but I do pray that the God of all comfort will keep and strengthen you and also knowing that you are not alone will help. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal. Please be encouraged that God is still God and He makes no mistakes.

De'Antre, If I could write to you knowing you'd be able to hear me, I'd tell you how blessed I am to know you. Your devotion to God, your enthusiasm and respect for life, is an inspiration to me. It's not about football, it's not about color, it's about the content of your character. It's often said, 'It's better to have known 'someone' (that would be you De'Antre) than to not have known them at all. I can't say I knew you before you left this earth. What I can say is I know you now, and I am blessed because of what you've brought to my table. May the Lord rest your soul and comfort those who miss you so.
