Benjamin MURPHY Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

MURPHY, Benjamin Benjamin Noah Murphy of Fayetteville and Columbus, Georgia, passed away on August 12, 2012, at the age of 32 after a brief illness. Noah was the son of Burkette Dean Murphy, III, and Lynn Franklin Murphy. Noah was born in East Point, Georgia, on December 20, 1979 and grew up in Fayette County. He attended Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia, graduating in 1998 and then went on to the University of The South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Studying financial law, French, and economics, Noah graduated in 2002 and promptly stepped into his father's law practice where he worked for several years before getting his commercial real estate license. Noah traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and the United States as well. He loved cruising and had sailed to Alaska, the Mediterranean and the entire western coastline of Europe from Spain and North Africa all the way up to the northern coast of France and Germany. He had a natural aptitude for language and was fluent in several languages. In addition to Europe, another of his favorite destinations was New York City. While at Woodward Academy Noah was an active participant in their musical theater program and it was there that he developed his love for the theater. He made frequent trips to New York with his parents where they took in Broadway plays and enjoyed the wonderful fine dining that New York has to offer. Thus another of Noah's passions emerged. He loved to cook and was an accomplished chef. He was constantly experimenting with herbs and spices and developing new recipes, trying them out on his willing friends and family! Noah is survived by his parents, his wife Julie Murphy, stepdaughters Anna Claire Hardy and Rebecca Layne Hardy, and his beloved dogs Charlie, Shasta, and Sophie. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville, GA. Dr. Dee Shelnutt will officiate. A graveside service will follow at the Fayetteville City Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions in Noah's memory to the Joseph A Sams School or P.A.W.S. Humane of Columbus, GA. Noah will be remembered for his smile, his humor, and most of all his love for everyone he met. You couldn't not love this man! I will remember you forever and the changes you brought to my life and the girls.

When I remember Noah, first his warm smile and bright eyes come to thought. Even as a young boy,he had a contagious disposition. My kids attended the same school for awhile and the same church. Noah's intelligence was quickly noticed! His parents loved him enormously and showered him with... two on one...attention. Can remember as a young boy, Noah already had mastered stock market trades. How excited he became when he started in drama at school. He had found a passion ...he wanted to tell you about it. As he became a young adult, whenever our schedules happen to cross,it was a reminder... of his valued qualities!!
