Suzanne Barrell

Suzanne Walton Barrell Suzanne Walton Barrell, 49, entered into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 2, 2013, while surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend to all. She knew no strangers and dedicated her life to caring for those around her. As a Registered Nurse, Suzy spent many years fulfilling her calling in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She also spent many years as an Emergency Room nurse, as well as assisting many patients at Martha Jefferson Hospital's Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center. As a healer, she touched many young lives and dedicated her time to making others more comfortable. Suzy was preceded in death by her father, Steward E. Walton; her grandfather, Willie Walton; her grandmother, Carrie "Granny" Walton; and her father-in-law, Herbert C. Barrell. She is survived by her husband, Herbert M. Barrell; her children, Nick Barrell and his wife, Audrey, Mack Barrell, and Miles Barrell; her mother, Natalie C. Walton; mother-in-law, Mary Frances Barrell; three sisters-in-law, Margaret, Jane, and Barbara Barrell; a niece, Kelly Nauert and her husband, James; a nephew, Scott Eckes and his wife, Emily; three Godchildren, Hunter, Ashley and Austin Shaver; and countless dear friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Teague Funeral Service. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at Mount Moriah Methodist Church in White Hall. The family would like to thank everyone who responded from Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, Crozet Volunteer Fire Department, and the medical team in charge of her care at UVA Medical Center.
