Guy Wigley Memoriam

Guy Stewart Wigley

Guy was born in Seattle on August 18, 1951 to Joseph Wigley and Glendyne Stewart Wigley. He was raised in a succession of college towns where his father was a professor. Many summers were spent in Durango, Mexico with the Stewart grandparents, and Guy was deeply influenced by that. Living in Bozeman, Montana in the 1960s Guy became a passionate lifelong skier. He graduated from high school in State College, Pennsylvania and from Penn State with an Anthropology major and a Latin American Studies minor. He and his future wife Karin Coyne moved to Seattle in 1979 and married in 1982. Two sons, Alexander and Nathaniel, were born and raised in Bellevue. Guy worked in the construction industry here for over 30 years, including time at McKinstry, Careco, Keller Supply, United Systems, and finally Holaday Parks, where he was a purchasing manager. Another passion was driving his motorcycle, and he made two glorious "Iron Butt" trips through the western US. Guy died February 22 supported by his wife and sons, his loving siblings Ross Wigley of Port Orchard, Ellen Hokanson of Denver, and Nora Wigley of Nova Scotia. He is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews who thought he was the coolest uncle ever. Hasta luego, Guy. We loved you. Everybody did.

Memorial service is Sat. March 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Eastshore Unitarian Church, Bellevue, WA.

A friend of mine who lives in WA State forwarded me Guy's obituary, thinking that i might know the person.

I was so saddened of your great loss. Guy was a humble Wigley with his intelligence and wittiness who communicated with gentleness and sensitivity. I had a lot of respect and very fond of him during my time of knowing him. A precious person in the family.

My sincere deep condolence to all of you. Niniek, Canada

So long, Guy. You will be missed. As the decades pass, many friends drift away...but you were a true, devoted friend who was always there, no matter how much time passed between conversations. I will miss your clever humor and your big heart. Rest in peace.

I had almost 60 years as your sister, Guy, but it wasn't nearly enough. You have always been my north star. You'll be with me on every mountain, I promise.
