Edith Fay Hassell Wilder, age 93, born February 13, 1932 went home to her Lord and family August 28, 2025. She was a lifelong resident of McCalla, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband T.A. Wilder, her parents J.C. and Myrtle (McDougal) Hassell, her brothers Paul and Eugene Hassell, nephew David Hassell, and niece Joanna McCarver. Fay is survived by her nephew Billy (Judy) Hassell of New Market, Alabama, nieces Nancy (Vince) Kolb of Cropwell, Alabama, Joy (Brian) Wood of Mountain Brook, Alabama, special friend Evelyn Pierce, and numerous cousins. Honorary family: Rocky, Rose, and Sinan Baghani and Sam, Alex, and Mike. During her 93 years, she wore many hats, owning and operating several cafes, flower shops, Tupperware sales, Past Matron of Flint Hill Eastern Star, Furnace Master Restaurant at Tannehill Park, Tannehill General Store where she was referred to by all as "Mama," but her most enjoyable was driving a McAdory school bus. She was instrumental in getting her family to donate and move Kimbrell Methodist Church to Tannehill State Park where she was an active member. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Meadowview Nursing Center and Affinity Hospice of Pell City for all her care. You all were so helpful in so many ways. A funeral service will be held at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 12:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Kimbrell Cemetery in McCalla, Alabama.
