Terry Wilkes Freeman, age 79 of McCalla, AL, beloved husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, brother and friend to all, arrived in his heavenly home on October 25,
2025. Terry was a man of great faith and unwavering compassion and generosity.
Terry was born to Otis and Virginia Freeman on September 5, 1946, in Gulfport, MS. He
grew up in Gulfport with a great sense of duty, integrity and service. He was proceeded
in death by his father, Otis; mother, Virginia; and his brother, Wayne all of Gulfport, MS.
He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Karen; daughter, Sherri (Mike); son,
Benjamin; granddaughters, Elise (Clay), Ashtyn and Julia; great grandsons, Oliver and
Wilkes; sisters Beth (Jim) and Carol Jean (James).
Terry's warmth, generosity and humor touched the lives of all who knew him, and he
was always ready to offer a lending hand to anyone in need. His journey on earth is one
marked with love and laughter and his homegoing has left a void in the hearts of his
family, friends, church and many more whose lives were touched by him.
He was the proud owner of General Pest Control which he started out of his home in
1990. It was not just a business; it was a family. He was loved by his employees and
customers because of how he cared for them. General served the Homewood
community faithfully until 2013 when he retired and sold the business. When Terry
wasn't with his family or helping others, you could find him enjoying nature, at the coast,
or hunting antiques. He was an avid hunter and loved feeding and watching the deer at
his home.
There will be a celebration of life on October 31, 2025, at The Baptist Church of
McAdory. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 am and a service will be held at 11:00
am. Burial will follow the service at Currie Jefferson Memorial Gardens on Hwy 150 in
Hoover. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any organization serving veterans
or to a church of your choice.
