Elizabeth Ann Guthrie Underwood, age 90, passed away on November 4, 2025. She was a member of the Pine Lane Church of Christ for 6 years, the Midfield Church of Christ, and the Oakman Church of Christ. She graduated from Oakman High School then attended Business College. She held several jobs before retiring from Jim Walter Homes as Regional Administrative Assistant for 25+ years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Madie Guthrie, brother Jerry, husband and love of her life Ronald Underwood, and her great grandson Everett James Nowlin of Tampa.
She is survived by her sister Charlotte (Harold) Martin, her daughters Karen Waldrop (Chuck) of McCalla, Alabama, and Kathy Johnson (Lewis) of McCalla, Alabama, her grandchildren Alison Humphryes (Kevin) of Helena, Alabama, Elizabeth Nowlin (Charlie) of Tampa, Florida, Tyler Waldrop (Brittany) of McCalla, Alabama, and Jacob Johnson (Alison) of Pittsboro, Indiana, and her great grandchildren Trenton (Robin), Raegan, Garrett, Samuel, Nathan, Jude, Nate, Hank, and Judd.
Elizabeth, known to friends as "Libby," was a loving and attentive wife, sister, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. She loved crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, music, and everyone's baby. She held the Rumikub Championship title at Woodlands Assisted Living and 2024 Valentine Queen at Plantation Manor Nursing Home. She loved to read her Bible and talk about the Lord. Libby's door was always open, ready to welcome anyone in need of shelter, conversation, or just cake and coffee.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Lorane, CNA & Crystal, Care Plan Coordinator at Plantation Manor, who went above and beyond.
Funeral services will be held at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM, with a visitation from 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper, Alabama.
