Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Frances Martin.
Known to many in the Hendersonville community as "Ms. Theresa," anyone who crossed her path could feel the sparkle of life she carried with her everywhere. She made sure everyone was met with kindness, joy, and inclusion, creating a safe space for so many who may have not had it elsewhere.
Theresa's main love language was service, from caring for others in their time of need or making sure their bellies were full. With a decade of working in school nutrition from Indian Lake Elementary to Merrol Hyde Magnet School, every person was met with a kind smile and a joyful spirit. After leaving school nutrition, her crusade of feeding others continued. Her cherished annual event was her "Eatmas" holiday, where she cooked, baked, and served 40-70 coworkers, friends, and family each year for 15 years, making sure all get a Thanksgiving holiday. Since 2021, she was able to live her dream, selling "Theresa's Sweet Treats" at local markets in the Hendersonville and Portland, TN/Franklin, KY area.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, William "Bill" Martin; daughter, Miranda Martin (Jeremy Ballinger); brother, Bill (Cathy) Edelen; sister, Sandra "Sandy" Bishop; nephews, Eric Bishop, Brad Bishop and Alex Bishop; great nephews, Parker Bishop and Bodhi Bishop; fur baby, Grace.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 22nd at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN. Interment will follow the service at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Eric Bishop, Brad Bishop, Alex Bishop, Parker Bishop, Tom Carter and Jeremy Ballinger serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, September 21st from 3:00-8:00 PM at Sellars Funeral Home in Hendersonville, TN.
Visitors are encouraged to wear purple in honor of Theresa's favorite color.
