Jerry Votta, 95 of Verona, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Born in Newark, N.J., to Jerry and Elizabeth (née Galardi) Votta, Jerry was raised on Sunset Ave. in the Vailsburg section of Newark before settling in Verona in 1959. Jerry found joy in spending time with his family, especially his wife Stella, loving son, Jerry and beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Erica.
Jerry's fondest memories were his teenage summers in Tottenville where his parents had a summer home and he served as a lifeguard. He also proudly served in the United States Navy for 7 years during the Korean War.
He enjoyed his wife's cooking which brought the family together for many meals and memories. Jerry also enjoyed family vacations, visiting the shore, and holiday gatherings with family and loved ones. He liked hunting with his father and family members as well as boating, fishing and crabbing with his son and grandchildren. He was the heart his family, always there to help and give his love and support.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of nearly 70 Years, Stella, his parents, Jerry and Elizabeth and his brother Rocco.
Jerry is survived by his devoted son, Jerry J. Votta; his treasured grandchildren, Christopher and Erica Votta; and his dear sister-in-law, Flora Knott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lake of the Lake Church, Verona, N.J. Kindly gather directly at the Church. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover will be private. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory Jerry can be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church, 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, N.J. 07044.
