Andrew R. Szymczak

Andrew R. Szymczak entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 17, 2025. Andy, a longtime resident of Cedar Grove, N.J. was born on March 7, 1952 to Casimir and Anni Szymczak in Münster bei Dieburg, Germany. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church, where he served as a lector and was an active member of SOS (Shepherds of Service). An avid kayaker, one of his legacies is that his grandchildren also enjoyed time on the open water with him. In his retirement, Andy traveled to many places in Europe and the United States. Prior to retiring, he was a Sales Engineer employed with D&B Engineering in Bloomfield.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth H. Szymczak (Harahan). Andy was the proud father of Monica Szymczak McDonald (Timothy McDonald) and Andrew R. Szymczak (Hannah McHardy). He was the cherished "Papa," of Natalie, Cora, Oliver and Noah.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 4 - 7p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Tuesday, October 21, 2025, 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Cedar Grove. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit, N.J. Memories and condolences may kindly be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
