Louis Chatel Obituary

Louis Robert Chatel president of three Lowell companies; 72 WESTFORD at Westford House, Louis Robert Chatel of Tyngsborough, formerly of Lynn and Burlington, after many brave encounters with cancer. Born June 30, 1936 in Lynn, MA, son of the late Louis C. Chatel and Antoinette (Fantozzi) Chatel. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeannette (Fortier) formerly of Peabody; sons, Sgt .Louis R. Chatel Jr, of the Weare Police Dept., and his spouse, Denise of New Ipswich, NH, LT. Robert B. Chatel of the Pelham Fire Dept. and his spouse, Cathy of Pelham, NH; and a daughter, Diane Lajoie of Manchester NH; granddaughters, Michelle Lajoie and her Fiancé, Philip Hernandez of Manchester, NH, Courtney Lajoie of Fitchburg, MA; grandsons, Mark and Matthew Chatel of Pelham and Hudson, NH, Tyler and Jared Masson of Pelham. Also a brother, Daniel and wife, Jackie of Kentucky; and nieces and nephews and an "adopted son", Dr. Tjama Tjivukua of Namibia, Africa, and Rocco Chatel. Formerly employed by Hansen Engineering of Lynn, and past President of the local American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the only non-degreed engineer to hold that office at that time, President of Chatel Engineering Co., Triple E Corporation, and High Tech Assemblies of Lowell, and he holds several patents. Also President of the former Lowell Industrial Center, a sheltered workshop for the mentally challenged. Lou had served in the National Guard and was a 1st Lt. when he resigned his commission. CHATEL Friends may call the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. His Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM, followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1195 Varnum Ave., Lowell. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, it would be greatly appreciated if donations be made in Lou's memory to the Animal Rescue Network of New England, PO Box 1053, Pelham, NH 03076 where we adopted our beloved Rocco. I was fortunate to work for Louie. But most of all I considered him a good friend. He got me through some tough times and always was there when I needed advice or just to talk things out.

Lou was more than a boss to me, he was my friend. When I needed help to get through a very tough time in my life Lou was there.
