Charles Ray "Chuck" Dersom

Dersom Charles Ray "Chuck" Dersom, 80, born November 11, 1935, passed away on January 22, 2016 in Largo, Florida where he and his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie", moved from Columbus Ohio, two years ago. Chuck was a wonderful husband, father, and "gramps" to all his family. He will also be remembered for his service to country, and a desire to help others. Chuck graduated from South High School and worked at Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company (AEP) while attending and graduating from The Ohio State University. After college, he served in the USAF from 1957 to 1959 as a navigator while stationed in Texas and California. Chuck and Jackie moved back to Columbus where he graduated from Franklin Law School (Capital Law School). He worked as an Assistant Attorney General for both the State of Ohio and the US Attorney General Offices. He then went into private practice with Thompson, Meier and Dersom attorney-at-law, retiring in 1999. While living in Whitehall, Ohio, Chuck was a member of the City Council for several years, active in the local Democratic Party and Lions Club, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, politics, cheering on the OSU Buckeyes, and playing card games on his computer. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marian Dersom. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; son, Chuck (Ron Willard) of Largo, FL; daughter, Vicki Pritchard (Scott) of Circleville, OH; son, Steven (Myra) of West Jefferson, OH; five grandchildren, Jason Pritchard (Rosemary), Matt Pritchard, Kailee Gardner (Corbin), Grant and Nathaniel Dersom; two great-grandchilren, Addison and Paislee Pritchard; and other loving relatives. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sabal Palms, Largo Hospital and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for their compassionate care of Chuck. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall, Ohio on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 a.m.
