Faye Lichtenstein

Faye (Margulies) Lichtenstein, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Morris and Miriam Yetta Margulies; her devoted husband of 66 years, Sanford ("Sandy") Lichtenstein; her sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Sanford Kayne; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Irvin and Mitzi Lichtenstein; and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Bernson.

Faye is survived by her loving children, Marc (Janice) Lichtenstein, Gary Lichtenstein, and Marcy Bernson; her treasured grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Booth, Seth Bernson, Evan Bernson, and Melissa Bernson; and her adored great-grandchildren, Edward and Amelia Booth. She is also survived by her niece and nephews, Stanley Kayne, Howard (Susan) Kayne, Hindi (Stuart) Friedman, and Jeff (Lisette) Lichtenstein.

Born and raised on the east side of Columbus, Faye was a graduate of South High School. She and Sandy were childhood sweethearts and married in June 1951, sharing 66 years of marriage until Sandy's passing. She worked with Sandy at his insurance office.

Faye was a devoted volunteer and active member of many organizations, often supporting her children's activities, including Boy Scouts, Blue Birds, and the Bexley Band Parents. Her heart, however, belonged to Congregation Agudas Achim, where she volunteered in the gift shop, was an active member of Sisterhood, and remained deeply involved in congregational life.

She also served as an officer of the Bexley Celebration Association, and her love of painting brought her great joy. Many of her artworks were proudly displayed at the BCA Fourth of July celebration and the Ohio State Fair art shows.

Above all else, Faye cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She delighted in caring for her grandchildren and took great pride in cooking and hosting for all the Jewish holidays, creating warm and lasting memories for her family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 2:00pm at Epstein Memorial Chapel, 3232 E. Main Street, Columbus, OH 43213 (Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83863942710?pwd=FiwEYgqCa8Zy6Xicbbo4I7zEp2tMr6.1). Interment will follow at New Agudas Achim Cemetery. On Thursday evening, Shiva will begin at 5:00 p.m., with services at 5:30 p.m. at Congregation Agudas Achim.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Faye's memory to Congregation Agudas Achim Cemetery Fund.
